Can someone fire the whole mobile division of Sony. We just want a smaller bezel. We did'nt ask to remove the jack and the side finger print. Z3 compact and ZR are the best example.
current user of XZ1 compact. Had the chance to feel the XZ2 compact dummy. size wise it is only 1mm taller than the XZ1c but fits in 5" screen with smaller bezels, which i think is fine for it to be called a compact.
the thickness is regrettable but i don't think it's awful, but if you compare spec by spec with other brands buyers do not sympathise going thicker rather than smaller. The matt material is nice, and the back somewhat reminded me of my old ZR.
Fingerprint sensor - what more can i say. they ditched the best position (side mount) for the (xxxxxxx) US market. This pushes them into the bland category of the other Asian brands. No headphone jack - for me i would still like it to be there.
With the thickness and bigger battery (albeit bigger and better screen) it should at least match the over 100 hr of battery life of its father and grand fathers. Then all the other compromises (no wireless charging etc) is not worth it.
The Z3compact is the perfect size and bezel ratio. If they updated that with a 3.5" that would be the ideal new compact.
sportsman, 19 Mar 2018Also a Z3 compact user here. With all these love/hate situations where my Sony disappointed m... moreso true, z3c bezels are really small. it's truly compact, light, slim. but it is defective, touch screen not working from the top part, camera haze, touch screen glue loosens. If only Sony remake the z3c with metal body and more powerful processor.
"the ergonomic curve was shaped to fit nicely in hand" -> of course. remember holding nokia 3310? the bulk is always ergonomic.
but this is such a lazy design for sony. trimming bezels while adding thickness. poor Sony.
if you want ergonomic, buy cheap phones, it is thick, using less slippery plastic, also tougher. yes, just like this one, expensive yet feels cheap.
AnonD-234961, 18 Mar 2018Sorry, I am probably unreasonable in expecting a new generation of a model to have better batt... moreUse your brain. Its a new phone but with more than double the pixel count. Do you really expect 1080/2160 to consume equal to 720/1280? That's 2.3 million light bulbs vs 0.9 million light bulbs.
Anonymous, 19 Mar 2018If Length of any phone exceeds 140 mm, it ain't compact anymore..Sorry 130.. a mistake on my part..
Josephkarthic, 18 Mar 2018Hi Everyone, Im looking for a mobile phone camera with the BEST low light shooting...Can so... moreSurely go for S9 or S9 plus with variable aperture and OIS, the best low light shooter among smartphones.
For all people who are complaining about size of display (that is not compact anymore because it has 5 inches) I would like to inform you that XZ2 compact is still smaller than iPhone 8, and if you don't consider iPhone 8 to be a compact phone then you're really special snowflake.
Btw here is visual size comparison between iPhone 8, XZ2 compact and phone of todays "standard" size Samsung S9 https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size#/phones/size/Samsung-Galaxy-S9,Sony-Xperia-XZ2-Compact,Apple-iPhone-8/phones/10716,10834,10408
sm4rt4ss, 18 Mar 2018I currently own Z3 Compact and this is my next phone. Or maybe XZ1C. I love them both. To thic... moreAlso a Z3 compact user here.
With all these love/hate situations where my Sony disappointed me and then make me love it again, I still have second thoughts about going with the XZ2C...
Really liked the 720p for the small screen and also the low impact on the battery side.
This XZ2C really made me reconsider the XZ1C... Only if it had a better design(smaller bezels).
I you think about it, the Z3C has very small bezels, especially for it's time,.. Too bad my screen comes loose and unglue by itsel too often,..
MAYBE there will, hopefully, be a better XZ3C this autumn. :))
From Z3 to XZ3, maybe the Z6 that never came out, but undercover. :))
Josephkarthic, 18 Mar 2018Hi Everyone,
Im looking for a mobile phone camera with the BEST low light shooting...Can so... moreI assume you want to take pictures in entertainment venues or such. Unfortunately they are all crap in low light situations, I'm not aware what you intend to do with the pictures but if you want to print them or use them physically then forget about the cellphone camera.
I cannot recommend you any phone for low light as none of them do it all, some have better color reproduction at dark, some like Pixel completely kill the environment lighting in order to make object more neutral and so on. It's a game full of compromise.
The nearest equivalent is actually the Huawei P10. A tiny bit bigger but lighter, slightly slower, like an upgrade to the X compact, and somewhat cheaper.
(I also happen to think the iPhone 5-8 design is a bit too much like something in a mid-range jewellers, so I disagree with the reviewer - both the Sony and the Huawei look better to me.)
As usual, very difficult to believe in these battery life ratings used. My samsung s6 (2550ma) and honor 8 pro (4000ma) have similar battery rating in hours, however in real word usage the honor 8 pro is not far from twice as good. 2780ma is small, period.
Glad I got the XZ1 Compact and didn't wait.
No Audio jack.
Larger all round.
This is not a compact!
Why the fxxxk is it such a big deal now that sony dropped the jack? Apple and all those other idiots doing it was fine? Like essential, htc and xiaomi
