Dunno why people like the P20 Pro better, sure it renders details more clearer but the color reproduction is so unnatural compared to the 1020. I think I'd rather go for the 1020 in terms of camera performance.

Phone B is good for normal user I guess it got nice WB but over sharpen and lost huge detail
(Well we all feel that Phone A is blurry yes it is ...)

Until the last picture we all see kind of moire in building ... (I don't know why they didn't reduce it both CA and Moire in those jpg ? only just sharpen it)

Hope you can do another test base on " RAW " from both phone ... >___

From controlled comparisons above, it is pretty clear which smartphones truly produce the best photo image quality.

Test any of the phone available in the market now against a Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. Being not perfect but still is way better than most of them (20mp with 10x optic zoom and 20x digital) I own two of them. Thank you.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018Yes, the larger pixels and sensor of the Pureview 808 can theoretically mean lower noise level... moreIs such a shame that they are trying to wipe away the scores and comparisons for these two phones. Why would they even do that for such legendary devices

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018But the 808 has larger pixels and a bigger sensor. And just turns out better results to the ey... moreYes, the larger pixels and sensor of the Pureview 808 can theoretically mean lower noise levels at higher ISO's. Thus, ISO 400 of the Pureview 808 can have lesser noise than ISO 400 of smaller sensored smartphones. However, the very high megapixel count of the Pureview 808 means it's not going to be as good a performer in high ISO's as it is in the lower ISO's. I was actually hoping the Pureview 808 and Lumia 1020 were included in gsmarena's database so I can do photo comparisons using gsmarena's photo compare tool. Unfortunately, both the Lumia 1020 and Pureview 808 are not available in the database for comparison with the more recent flagships. So I can't really say if the Lumia 1020 or Pureview 808 remains superior in photo quality up to this day compared to the newer flagship phones (available light photography).

Most smartphone cameras now... moreThere is way too many factors than just aperture, and on this size of the sensors it will give you only one stop EV between 1.7 and 2.4 . More important thing is sensor size, lens quality and software algorithm it uses.
The best way the quality and the difference you will see if you have raw on both cameras.

Really hope they do one with the 808 as well. But they even removed it from the sunlight legibility page despite the fact that it was still number one just because it was older. Which is very underhanded.

And despite its age the optics altogether were good enough to hold up now still.
However we would love to see hmd come with a new large sensor beast with the latest soc. And some really great new lenses and the whole shabam

Most smartphone cameras now are at least 1 stop higher (F/1.8) which means they should theoretically be able to use a lower ISO than either the Pureview or Lumia for the same shutter speed and low light scenario.

AnonD-442184, 13 Apr 2018I don't really like to pixel peep but here's my case in point about lens advancement. Look at ... moreDpreview is to interchangeable lens cameras as Gsmarena is to smartphone cameras. I always thought Dpreview's controlled lab tests as the gold standard of fair, unbiased comparisons and they don't rate camera outputs. They let the users/readers decide. Now for smartphone cameras, only gsmarena has that same controlled lab tests and set ups for which users/readers can compare side by side phone cameras in identical controlled conditions. Like Dpreview, gsmarena lets the user decide and I appreciate the extensive data base of both websites for interchangeable lens cameras (Dpreview) and smartphone cameras (Gsmarena). Their extensive controlled lab comparisons are what I always look into to judge TRUE image quality/performance of a smartphone or digital camera. This is in contrast to DXOmobile's ratings system where the mere increase in number of camera units in a phone and the presence of zoom and image stabilization instantly adds up to the 'photo' score in some undocumented way. True image quality can be mediocre yet the smartphone can be up there in their charts. There is no database of controlled lab results where users can compare actual captured photos side by side unlike gsmarena. Bottomline, I don't trust their ratings and nobody who cares about true photo image quality should too. To end this post, here's a side by side comparison from gsmarena's photo compare tool of the P20pro, V20, Note8, S9+, iphone X, Pixel 2 XL and Oneplus 5T. Everyone should view the comparisons in a desktop PC with calibrated 4K or at least a Full HD IPS monitor: Pay particular attention to sponge Bob and the dollar bill and the map.
