While clearly in all these samples Nokia 808 had better details and should be scored higher.

You can take a 1020 photo and edit it to look like a P20 photo, but you can't take a P20 photo and edit it to look like the 1020 photo because it's already too processed.

they are the ... moreI am a proud owner of Nokia 808 pureview. The problem with todays phone is thicknness. People want slim phone like apple, but 808 pureview was nearly 13 mm thickness.. You can't fit a purview like large sensor camera in a 7 or 8 mm thick phone... Either you have to use 2 or three camera or s/w processing like google.. Iphone, google, galaxy s9, huawei p20 may score higher in DXO marks. But their pic quality is no where near to nokia 808 pure view. That is a sad truth. No one will accept a 13 mm thick Iphone just to get slr/pureview like image quality.

P20 Pro's win over the Lumia 1020 is the second mos surprising thing for me tonight ... right after seeing FC Barcelona getting eliminated from AS Roma.

Basically the resolved quality is the same. The p20 LOOKS better because it has more aggressive software in post processing, and it's visible more in the last scene with the blinds, where the sharpening/interpolation is so heavy on that small pattern that it totally distorts it... so I guess the 1020 with some more contrast and sharpening still beats it :P

Dear falesh,
Like you wrote, in many aspects the mobile phones in year 2018 are very different kind of devices than in year 2013 or earlier, but we still are looking for a pocket camera phone that delivers a decent quality images for real like 808. I'm not talking about those candy like postprocessed images that are easy to post direct to Instagram or snapchat and get thousands of likes.

How long is that 1020 got last update and it runs crappy Windows OS.

Its 40mp shooter, its written there. :) Wish they would use 48mp instead, if they want to out just quarter of that.

Is this a joke?
How is it possible that the P20 Pro took these shots?
I first thought B was the P20 Pro but then I thought that this could not be it because a phone with such an emphasize on the camera side should not produce those shots.
Colors and sharpness doesn't make the whole picture, I don't get how this phone has been said to be that great...

GSMArena should've also put a refrence photo from a DSLR so we can judge which one is more natural to the eyes.
But then again, its a freaking phone to post on social media so no one cares aboyt it.
