If we want to summerize, we have to say that the audience of gsmarena doesn't know anything about photography.
Lumia loses everytime, yet people voted it? Even so on the last picture were colours are realistic (watch that green grass) only on Phone B - the Hua...
To be equal, GSM Arena should use "Auto Enhanced" photos of Lumia 1020, to compare Huawei P20 Pro preprocessed photos ... well, if you do not know, there is a such option as "Auto-Enhance" in Lumia. It makes photos brighter and sharper. Then it is your choice, to keep an orginal one or auto enhanced one.
The most natural camera like photos you'll get from the Nokia 808 Pureview. It can not cope very well with dark lightning without xenon flash, which obviously burns the images. But it delivers quality performance on the daylight photography. The 808 won't oversaturate and overcolour every photos like all those Asian variants do. I mean Sony, Huawei, Samsung, iPhone etc. Is there any option to put off those overcompensations? I do prefer smooth and realistic images.
The 40mp sensor of the P20 Pro is a Sony IMX and not a PureView one on the Lumia 1020.
And Sony doing this to Huawei indicates that they would also make one, an even better too, version of this sensor.
But one thing. 40mp is crazy too much for smartphones.
25mp is enough, maybe even less.
To anyone that will put a single camera on a flagship phone of 2018, they should make sure that that single camera will be of sub-1" size with just the right number of pixels, great OIS, and a variable aperture (more than two stops).
Yep Huawei easily win.
All that matters in digital photography in these days is about sensor size, the bigger sensor the better images, even with one of those fancy Nvidia supercomputers you cant improve the images that much.
I can say for sure that Nokia 808 is the best camera phone in still images!
Trying to trigger Nokia in camera dept in 2018!!!
After all these years lumia 1020 is giving up its throne though I prefered lumia pictures more
It would be appreciated if gsmarena gave us 10MP samples of P20 Pro to compare with lumia
P1cks, 10 Apr 2018Weird to see that a vast majority prefers the phone A results...clearly lacks focus/aperture/b... moreActually if you look at the poll, it's clear that the majority prefers B. The only ones voting for A are hipsters who want to appear cool.
Anonymous, 10 Apr 2018LOL.. A images can always be processed to get B.. But B will never be able to match the detail... moreThat's the point dude. B has been heavily processed to appear cleaner. We don't actually know how the images would look like without that processing. For all we know, B might produce as detailed pics as A if Huawei had not tweaked it so much in favor of noise-reduction, Duh.
DantE O2, 10 Apr 2018your "WE" is too small bro , companies never care about individuals they care for most of the marketJust take a look at the poll result. You'll find out that "we" are more than "you". :p
Sony can beat both if they fix low light of flash
People think that over-sharpening and over saturation is a key for good photograph. Most of them hate natural colors and praise artificial colors which done by software algorithms.
In my point of view good photo is a photo which let us to play with it (apply effects, change presets and make different types of photos out of the original.) A photo which done everything to it by software is good for child to show others and be happy.
Weird to see that a vast majority prefers the phone A results...clearly lacks focus/aperture/bokeh...
People are strange noawadays...
Phone A, of course! It's the Lumia. The other is the yeloowish piece of copycat sh.t:)))
Why do people say that Nokia has "real and natural colors"? It's never been that way. I love my Lumias but they always oversaturate pictures (skin, leaves, especially sky)...
nokia still the best. there is a winner already. i've got my 808 and 1020 with me until now.
jtrogr, 10 Apr 2018The important part is that the lumia is still worth comparing after all these years but the ne... moreforgotten after a year or less
Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018Noisier but more detailed image is alwasy better than images with less details caused by noise... morei agree its like a.i build in beautification feature. i prefer natural than over processed images. its good to see a 5 year old smart just crash the recent smartphone that has 40mp(10mp caemra X 4) != 41mp.
