In Photo comparison test, Nokia 7 plus camera gives Iphone 8 plus and S9+ run for their money.
I was comparing the low light photo and video samples of Nokia 7 Plus with the ones from iPhone X and Galaxy S8/S9, and they seem to be better than the S8 and S9! Check them out once. The camera on this phone is clearly a huge upgrade. And although I agree that the price may seem a bit steep if you think about the processor, you need to remember that the build quality of this phone is as good as any flagship! Only Apple used to makes its flagships from 6000 series aluminium (it has now switched to 7000 series I guess). This phone is both faster and cheaper than Samsung A8+. And you get timely OS updates like Google Pixel. I'm honestly considering this phone but would wait for Nokia 6 review. Currently I have an LG G6 which is a pretty good phone except that the battery life is average.
SpiritWolf, 21 Apr 2018Nokia maybe has, not sure if HMD does. Although i would never buy phone with Spydroid anyway.... moreAbout spydroid..!! I agree with you bro! I'd N900 & N9 the only way to buy HMD's from me it is: rise up maemo or meego harmattan (I mean neo gen) AGAIN & once again I agree with you about SPYDROID more than %100..
Thanks GSMArena for the review.
Screen seems great for an LCD, 1700:1 contrast and 3.5 sunlight legibility.
Battery endurance is "only" 87 hours (I expected about 100 hours given the battery size and the 14nm process node chipset), what gives?
And yes it's common conclusion among reviews that the dynamic range is rather limited.
Anybody fancy porting Google Camera?
The camera looks like failure. Display is decent. Battery is not well optimised.

Although i would never buy phone with Spydroid anyway. And there's about zero chance they will use any other OS. Gimme Symbian. Or MeeGo or Sailfish. Even Tizen would do. IF HMD wants to be NOKIA, not a Googles lapdog, bring back and develop OS'es that were better than Spydroid before getting killed.
For 399 euros that cost here, i clearly prefer a flagship of the previous year with better cameras with OIS, faster ROM, etc. Like Mate 10, Zenfone 4 Pro, S7 Edge, or S8 for 40 euros more. For a midrange phone, the Mi Note 3 and the Z18 mini are really good phones for only 230-270 euros with the same specifications and even with bigger ROM and RAM, 6-128 Gb. The Nubias will get Android One later and western LTE bands.
Looks like put Nokia on the bezzel and Zeiss on the back cost too much. The color chrome is really aesthetically poor, it does not feel good, although that point may be subjective and relative to my personal tastes, but I see it ugly.
'can actually outlast battery life of honor view 10'. Yeah rite when u use non retail european in US T-mobile line and never bother to update the battery life of honor view 10 properly. The AI learn system will improve battery life significantly, Honor view 10 wins hands down for me, better camera quality, flagship spec, 128gb internal with sd card slot and can get for $450 now.
SpiritWolf, 21 Apr 2018Camera still sucks. Enough detail? Look at grass. And edge to edge sharpness is quite off also... moreI believe they still have the formula and material for the camera in 808.
About time they revive the tech.
But i think Nokia is trying to give as much as possible into this phone. Balancing everything, so every aspect is so-so but everything you need is there.

So the telephoto that does not defocus well the background.
The daylight shot even with f1.8 are at iso 100 instead of base value.
GSMA Team, please review Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, it's a great challenger for Nokia 7 plus.

First to comment :-P The phone is a failure at price 26,000 INR in india becaus... moreIt is definitely a bit overpriced at 26K but apart from nokia 8(better chipset vs better camera,) the nearest competitor is about 5 k higher(one plus and view 10). So should sell well due to the lack of competition.
Camera still sucks. Enough detail? Look at grass. And edge to edge sharpness is quite off also. But to be honest, EVERY camera sucks if you are used to 808.
myubuntuworld, 20 Apr 2018La la laaa... First to comment :-P The phone is a failure at price 26,000 INR in india becaus... moreI think it's Qualcomm's fault instead of Nokia's. I think the chipset (SD660) is set by Qc to have eMMC, not UFS. The UFS is only availabe in SD8xx.
Even as a Finn I can say that it’s clear now that HMD Global is doing more harm than good to the Nokia brand. The quality of last year’s models appeared to be far from ideal and this year’s lineup isn’t convincing me either. The Nokia 7 plus is clearly the best one of the family but Foxconn’s quality control doesn’t seem to be up for the task.
Hopefully HMD keeps learning and improving and in a year or two their devices will actually be good options in all price points (as long as HMD manages to stay alive).
A positive review - this is great news for Nokia fans. A great phone at a decent price.
Essential Phone is $399 in US, same price as Nokia 7 Plus, pure Android 8.1, SD835, 128GB 2.1 UFS of internal memory and a premium build. Nokia is still overpricing IMHO.
It's a bargain at its price! And with 3 years of updates to boot. You only get that from Google flagships normally. I only wish they had included some water and dust resistance, but I suppose you can't have everything at this low of a price.
