The Nokia 8 scored 4.6. Sure, the 7+ is being released six months later, in fact the review was done eight months later; and the 8 has the edge in some areas. I'd choose the 7+ in a heartbeat though (camera, build, much larger screen in a slightly bigger body, larger battery, likely an extra major android update).
Maybe the rating places too much emphasis on benchmarks and not enough on software updates?

Nokia 8 or Nokia 7 plus? Compare battery, performance and camera. Considering that the price may drop in a few months although both are equally priced right now. I'm thinking of buying the phone in this price range for 2 to 3 year usage in about 2or 3 months.

There are many YouTube reviews out there which praise the craftmanship of Nokia 7 plus and any person that looks at 7 plus can confirm the copper accents are actually mind blowing!! It depends how the governor uses CPU , most uses on demand governer , so when doing web browsing it will at first peak to full speed and after page has loaded and the javascript load is reduced it will downclock itself.. You can download cpuz and check in your phone also it shows current clock speed
Super Amoled should be efficient during video playback , whereas LCD should have an edge during web browsing ..
Then there is sd 660 which is not based on stock arm cores but instead uses semi custom Kyro cores has a better modem and other things .. So hard to make direct comparison .. What changes were made to the core.. My guess is efficiency gains have been utilized to get more performance out of gpu instead of cpu..
Rn5 pro has a 5.5 inch screen with slightly bigger battery and 7 plus has 6 inches , so I think power consumption of both would be rougly similar .. Then there are other things like software which in case of redmi note 3 if you check gsmarena mentions that it had a power saver mode that was always on .. So that can affect results as well.. We can only get a rough idea with so many variables and without somebody doing proper testing
But I don't think there is anything wrong with Nokia 7 plus , oppo r15 pro also have similar battery life if you take account into differences
