Where is the almighty OIS?
Two devices without it ( Pro does not have it on the 40MP rgb) put s9 to shame
The XZ2 Premium effectively doesn't use a 1/2.3" sensor. It's effectively rather a 1/2.5" sensor. It only seems to use 16.8 megapixels from the 19 megapixel sensor, this explains that the field of view isn't as wide as the XZ2.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018Just edited a single camera low-light jpg and applied additional noise reduction+sharpening. T... moreCould be also about battery saving, not sure though. Even if I do not trust their algorithm, I trust their hw and its awesome in this phone. On hw side mono sensor captures more light
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018Yes, XZ2P has more noise in daylight. Because the NR is near to zero. This time they choo... moreSeems right, but surely most people see more left noise than not captured detail, what is shame. Still, sony's NR in xperias back makes one wonder if its not bad NR. Even I wonder if I look at grass in picture(2. one with hotel name). I prefer detail, but I'm sure there are ways to counter it, like ''better'' NR or more stacking. Can imagine sony could do more stacking in daylight to prevent noise, with 1/1000 shutter speeds, it should be possible, even if optional. With stacking in game its not always about NR.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018The dual camera photo mode justs looks like a mode with more aggressive noise reduction. Less ... moreJust edited a single camera low-light jpg and applied additional noise reduction+sharpening. The result was: same amount of noise as the dual camera photo and at least the same amount of details.. If Sony doesn't improve the algorithms, it might be better to disable the dual camera for low-light photos...
Arccosinus, 21 Jul 2018Pixel 2's photo came out better. Sorry broWhy?
More noise, less detail and wrong white balance.
Hope Google brings to Pixel 3 a natural look. More contrast than reality makes Pixel 2 shots fake
vrvly, 21 Jul 2018They already lose in low light sharpness, add longer exposure which is not available on sony, ... moreYes, XZ2P has more noise in daylight. Because the NR is near to zero. This time they choose to leave it more free.
Noise can easily be removed by editing.
The NR applied by Samsung and Huawei makes you believe is noise-free. Then you cannot fix later.
I have seen a XZ2 x P20 Pro made by a photographer. In most situations P20 Pro loses details, no matter 10 or 40MP due to excess of NR.
Difference between raw and jpeg of p20p is obscene.
After months I still haven't seen samples of Huawei using iso above 3200. Must be trash to be hidden that way.
I have seen shots of XZ2p at 6400 that are as good as other phones at iso 900 or 1000.
Me , 21 Jul 2018A photographer told me Samsung and LG are kings of oversharpening.
Also the strongest NR at nightI guess I wasn't entirely right, sony should produce better results, if comparing quality using same fov, which sony got biggest. Same scene would be sharper. Same when viewing, at same magnification, sony samples look better in comparison.
Still, its done with smaller pixels, cannot expect same sharpness in low light. I could wish huawei like HDR though.
vrvly, 21 Jul 2018Noise or detail, what you want... but look at sky in pixel low light sample, surely you do not... moreA photographer told me Samsung and LG are kings of oversharpening.
Also the strongest NR at night
alirezaasol, 21 Jul 2018pixel 2 is king again!
s9 and p20 photos are super ugly
super oversharpened . especially in ... moreNoise or detail, what you want... but look at sky in pixel low light sample, surely you do not want that. Yes, sony may be a bit behind in sharpness in some situations, but output got best colors, almost no noise or purple shading(for example like in p20pro).
And I can bet its best night sky - shooter, at least based on hw of monochrome sensor, and that as well might be what helps them to achieve nice blacks in night...
I want this but i also want the XA2 plus T-T I better wait for the XZ3 then.
alirezaasol, 21 Jul 2018pixel 2 is king again! s9 and p20 photos are super ugly super oversharpened . especially in ... moreI think XZ2 premium might be the new king!! If it managed to take some stunning pics and videos with a pre-production unit i can just imagine how it will perform when it will be officially out.
pixel 2 is king again!
s9 and p20 photos are super ugly
super oversharpened . especially in third set of pics. just look at the water color trees and wall of building and compare them to pixel 2 sample
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018The low light photos look like smeared paintings. Sure the brightly lit portions of the photo... moreDude are you high on something? or bashing is your way of life?!! Please go through the comparisons again, XZ2 premium is going to kiss A** that camera is going to be badass!! I can assure you
Years are not in the power to change the old xperia camera problems. Even god himself, cann`t change the post processing algorithms))
I did not think that in the second half of 2018, i`m still would see on overexposed and blurry photos
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018My point is ... Best way to find out the best: 10MP x 12 MP, both same ISO and shutter.... moreThey already lose in low light sharpness, add longer exposure which is not available on sony, be it 32sec or AIS, and its big loss. Low iso also wont help (no matter if day or night) to create noiseless shots, the most does software with its algorithm and stacking. You will find high iso or daylight shot on p20pro less noisy, and they got no AUBE... Imagine they will use that...
vrvly, 21 Jul 2018Couldn't catch, how is the screen, same old FHD with 4K at sony apps? How it is in comparison ... moreIt is 4K with most apps running 1080p, not 1080p with 4K for Sony apps. Youtube can play 4K on it.
Apps run 1080p on iphone X, on S9+, on G7 as well.
It is a 4K RGBW made by LG. 1000 nits available same way of G7.
Also you can enable the 144Hz mode in developers options.
