vrvly, 21 Jul 2018Will it help to best xperia in colors? Looking again, forget 12mp's, huawei's 10mp is sharper ... moreMy point is ...
Best way to find out the best: 10MP x 12 MP, both same ISO and shutter.
If one phone is using 3s and the other 1/16s , I expect the first to do better.
They same way a phone at ISO100 and 1/4s is supposed to do better than another using ISO1000 and 1/32s.
The breaking news is : above iso 1000, not even P20P can even XZ2P. The Sony at iso 3200 is much better for example the U12+ below iso1000.
Test also that hi res audio, DSEEHX, whatever that means without jack...or is it great using adapter? Is adapter any good, are there alternatives? How is it if you listen to DSD?
Hopefully I'm not the only one interested in this...
vrvly, 21 Jul 2018Will it help to best xperia in colors? Looking again, forget 12mp's, huawei's 10mp is sharper ... morePlease check some video files in YouTube uploaded by Japanese, you got idea how good this phone is. Even p20pro or S9+ not closer with this Sony xperia xz2 premium
Couldn't catch, how is the screen, same old FHD with 4K at sony apps? How it is in comparison to older one? Wish you make an 4K test with 8Mp sample made for it as with first premium and other QHD flagships that came years before... difference was minimal after all.
GSMARENA. PLS NOTE
Bionz is sony's Image processing enge. this is old. XZ2 Premium used sony's latest and new AUBE processing engine. pls check the wrong information.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018p20 pro with 3s shutter and lower iso is supposed to do betterWill it help to best xperia in colors? Looking again, forget 12mp's, huawei's 10mp is sharper than sony's in low light. Even if colors are not better, either less noise or more detail in low light(depends on mode) And best HDR - got huawei better than sony. Add noiseless 40mp in daylight with ''AI colors'' and ordinary user can choose easily.
Wish gsma will test the limits of both, be it in noise/detail preservation/deformations in daylight or long exposure(1sec+/hand-held, stars/milky way included), also HDR in day/low-light, its auto and manual capabilities. I guess Sony still lack RAW so you wont take details from highlights for more HDR even in computer, forget in-phone editing.
Best camera to date. Period.

ppl bash xz2 because of weight. even tech sites do, but iphone 8+ is heavier, less battery than xz2 compact. But is okay for everyone.
why?
This phone needs to go on a serious diet! I will not get a phone that weighs almost as much as my Samsung tablet; this is insane.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018The low light photos look like smeared paintings. Sure the brightly lit portions of the photo... moreOk, let me be more specific: Unacceptable quality - smearing/lack of detail evident in the foliage, pavement surface, building walls, parked automobiles: gsmarena _115,116,121 photos. Good/Very good low light photos with sufficient detail: gsmarena - 117, 118. Borderline acceptable (some smearing but not too much) : gsmarena_119. As for videos, sorry, none can be used for tv viewing or film making.
Sony new Xperia XZ2 Premium only remind me one particular song, Yesterday Once More, and I'll still preferred The Carpenters version anytime, even if it was 45 years older than the Sony one.
Sony we love you!
New premium looks like this to me - better colors(older xperias or other brands), noise is about the same in daylight(couldn't find much difference, grass still destroyed, so is noise in the bright blue sky). Low light is - improved, but in the way, you will get a bit less detail - still its how it should be - less noise less resolution in low light, other way in daylight, but I'm sure they could do more, look how sharp are 12mp's from other brands.
Though disappointing is that they lost, Lost to HDR on p20pro in low light. Funny thing is, using monochrome sensor makes output in bright areas even more bright, losing even Some detail that was left.
Wonder if they compare their phone to the likes of p20pro(hdr), S9+(noise) they should see what they lacks.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2018The low light photos look like smeared paintings. Sure the brightly lit portions of the photo... moreI bet your phone does 1000x worse.
Did you expect performance of a videocamera used by TV channel?
Most of phones use sensors of 1/2.55", 1/2.6 " or 1/3".
Sensor area is near 27mm2 or less.
Sony has dual 1/2.3". Near 29mm2 each. But without Bayer filter the monochrome can catch up to 3x the amount of light the RGB can.
I do not know the calculation including f1.8 and 1.6, but I read comments from photographers that this dual cam can act like a sensor with 200mm2.
Now, let's allow Samsung and iPhone users cry an ocean here. Even if they copy AUBE, a stronger version of it will be on next xperia.
I am confused when the author states that the camera comparison is the best of the best. I have a Huawei P20 (oh yeah, I have the Pro). I believe that this is currently Huawei's best camera phone. Not really a fair comparison?
