Just bought a Samsung Galaxy J6 for the equivalent of 116 euros. Specwise it matches or beats the 3.1 in just about every area.

Vic4BBM, 28 Jul 2018Except SoC, all seems fine with this handset. Android One program, Nokia brand, sturdy built ... moreWonder why they chose Mediatek and what they thought it will achieve? No doubt MDTK has some good chipsets but entry level SD like 450 or 625 would have saved this otherwise good handset! Just a piece of paper weight now as there are a lot better options in the market at the price point. Sad but true

Android One program, Nokia brand, sturdy built and all.

Had they used SD SoC, it would have made huge difference.
Qualcomm provides with a synced package, while Mediatek provides with 'put together' package in terms of SoC.

I am keeping my eyes on Nokia 2.1. though Go edition phone, it will still be better with SD SoC.

"There is now a taller screen with some extra pixels and thinner bezels"
Urr... i bet to differ, the Nokia 3 has far smaller bezel than this sheet

Why that bottom bezels ???? 18:9 aspect ration means to reduce the bezels but here they deployed huge bezel....

Let's see something which is selling point strategy:

                - Nokia - 6 = 2017-01 = SD430
                - Nokia - 5 = 2017-02 = SD430
                - Nokia - 3 = 2017-02 = MT6737
                -----------------------------------------------
                - Nokia - 8 = 2017-09 = SD835
                - Nokia - 7 = 2017-10 = SD630
                - Nokia - 2 = 2017-10 = SD212
                -----------------------------------------------
                Next Level:

                - Nokia - 6.1 = 2018-01 = SD630
                - Nokia - 1 = 2018-02 = MT6737M
                - Nokia - 7 Plus = 2018-02 = SD660
                - Nokia - 8 Sirocco = 2018-02 = SD835
                -----------------------------------------------------
                - Nokia - 2.1 = 2018-05 = SD425
                - Nokia - 3.1 = 2018-05 = MT6750
                - Nokia - 5.1 = 2018-05 = HP18
                - Nokia - 5.1 Plus = 2018-07 = HP60
                - Nokia - 6.1 Plus = 2018-07 = SD636
                -----------------------------------------------------

                What strategy stays here?

Nokia restarted by offering Series 6.

                In Nokia View:
                6 is Entry Level.
                7 is Mid Ranger.
                8 is High End.
9 which is still in line to be introduced is true flagship of their lineup.

Once Lumia 830 was affordable flagship.

Under 6 means playing with media.

Bad SoC, Poor Camera and Weak Battery Life are Deliberately Downgrade Specs inside brand new handsets in order to do 3 task and 4 tricks.

                Tasks:

1- Collect as many idea as possible for further lineups.
2- Offer as many handsets as possible to overwhelm global market with the name of Nokia which was once the most popular brand.
3- Offer different kinds of users with different handsets for almost any budget.

                Tricks:

1- Make us play "For & Against" for each and every officially introduced handsets.
2- Motivate other brands' fan base to talk about Nokia.
3- Use outdated specs in latest handset. (They are commercially available for advertisement)
4- Keep rumor mill be active whole the year (Since Lumia 1020, Nokia wanted to offer an Android flagship in 9 Series)

Instead of filling billboards with posters, Lets people see actual good looking devices, then they will be tempted to buy one cheap Nokia, 1, 2, 3, 5.
If those handsets meet their need, Nokia is Winner+, If not, Nokia simply offer them its real entry level handset (6, 6.1, 6.1 Plus). If a business user there are still 7 Plus and 8 to fill gaps.

Nokia wants to keep people thirsty for its 9 series.

Nokia 3 with MT6737 upgraded carefully to MT6750. If SD636 sits inside 3.1, who will then, buy already outdated Nokia 8?

How about the large bezels in the Cons? If ur phone has tall display AND tall bezels, ur phone is basically a stick

Dave Granger, 27 Jul 20183GP video? Are we back in 2006?I downloaded the video sample and checked the properties. The video is h.264 Level 4.1 and audio is AAC. Only the container itself is 3GP which is not really a problem. You can simply rename it to MP4 with no adverse effect and pretend it's been MP4 all along. :D

I think if they had used SD 450, the phone would've been closer to 200 EUR. You can't assume that a company like HMD (Nokia) simply do not understand that they could have used a better chipset -- obviously these parts are the best compromise to land at this price point.

Extremely disappointed by HMD's choice of processor for this phone. Using a chip built on the 28nm node (which is 6 years old) in a 2018 phone is simply unacceptable.

The overall package is really good and they had the opportunity to offer something quite competitive simply buy using a modern, efficient SD 450, but they missed that opportunity badly. I cannot recommend this phone to anyone without feeling a bit guilty.

P.S. the same applies to 5.1.
