Primark, 29 Aug 2018Do you know of any phone right now that can trump its lowlight capabilities? U get the answer by watching this:

Sony got really bad exposed on highlights & not so excellent dynamic range, both on daylight & low lights.
For low lights still photography, accept the facts that the crown still goes to P20 Pro (without Night mod).
Video recording on the other hands, XZ2 Premium wins hands down.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2018Good Game XZ2P:
https://www.gsmarena.com/vidcmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=9166&idPhone... moreActually GSMA battery test is indeed buggy. Technically Samsung and Huawei phones get good screen on results but in real life their battery run time is half that.
And for Sony, it's been the opposite. Ask anyone who has a XZP, it gets 8-9 hours of SoT. Much more than any Huawei phone and usually better than Samsung (depending on Samsung's usage). A normal user usually gets 6-7 hours of SoT on Samsung and Huawei phones.
I think GSMA needs to recheck their tests for non-popular phones. I've consistently seen miscalculations in Sony and Xiaomi tests.
3.8 score seem ridiculous... why so low? are the cameras so bad for that price? 900 euro?
basically people like a very fast mobile and a very good camera... again... LOL

If you want Sony, only buy flagship. Every XZ series phone is pretty solid, and every Z since Z3 has been as well.
This costs € 900. the almost-as-good XZ2 costs € 480. That one is more competitively priced

As a XZ Premium user I can say the fact the this phone is bulky and hard to hold. My phone is 77mm narrow and is uncomfortable to hold and XZ2 is even more - 80mm.
For better user experience, they should implement 18:9 diplay with 5.5" size. Then the phone can come to 70mm and will be perfect.
what they did: remove the 3.5mm jack, move fps on the most inconvenient place, mede it fat and more bulky then XZP.
SORRY, I'M NOT BUYING IT.
Sergi, 29 Aug 2018Here's another video XZ2P vs Note9 side by side, starts at 0:46 https://www.youtube.com/wat... moreI beg your pardon, are you watching the display comparison from your 2K screen? that's why you can not compare 4K HDR display.
Actually, the design of the review did just that. It highlighted features the XZ2 premium has that you can get the same, for a much lower price elsewhere, or get so much more in a better package for the same price as the XZ2 premium. That's actually what Gsmarena said in euphemism, "If you're the more reasonable type, there are likely more sensible options." A more blunt statement with no sugar coating wouod have been stated like rhis: 'Buying the XZ2 premium doesn't make any sense' (unless if you are a Sony fan who will never buy anything not made by Sony).

https://www.youtube.com/wat... moreSee hope it clearly doesn't.
You fanatics are ridiculous.
The note 9 is better in terms of brightness, angles, sunlight visibility, blacks, contrast, hdr, saturation and accuracy, etc.
..and 4k is not much to brag over 3k
Primark, 29 Aug 2018For some reason the design of the review fails to highlight the selling the selling point of z... moreWhat is wrong with you? Are you seriously that incredibly naive? Or just trying to support Sony that excessively.
That is horrendously wrong on all accounts.
First of all... almost all videos so the same story as usual. Endless Sony fans flooding to claim how superior the camera is compared to all others.
As well as how supposedly godly the phone is in every way compared to others....
And like always... it's simply not.
All the videos and comparisons clearly showed that. It's dynamic range is not up to par, it's exposure is highest than Samsung's and adapts more slowly, its focus is not as quick, it's colors are more accurate than a lot but not perfect, it's white point is cool, and despite the fact it has more resolution it looks more sharpened than others... ..and doesn't even appear much sharper in many cases... explain that.
..and even if it had one..... which would only be by small margins at this point....HOW IN THE WORLD DOES SOME TINY CAMERA VICTORY JUSTIFY IT BEING THE MOST OVER PRICED ANDROID PHONE RIGHT NOW????????!!!!!!!!!!! Or being that pricey at all
since you will deny it's the most over priced android.
It simply doesn't. It has no stand out features except 4k display and the new vibration.
That's insane
SONYPONY, 27 Aug 2018SONY Huge fail in following departments
1. Display:Sony Xperia having terrible cheap IPS D... moreCouldn't agree more with this one.
The bulky, slippery, unconvenient design alone not worth for the price it's asking for.
For some reason the design of the review fails to highlight the selling the selling point of z2p, if you scour youtube you will be able to see a lot of comparison video regarding its camera performance against the competition, hence justifying its hefty price tag, instead the review seems to try to emphasize that z2p is a meh phone...
Dientesdesierra, 28 Aug 2018Here it is seen how the screen of the XZ2p destroys crapmoleds easy.

Looks nice, I've had a couple of curved-backs before and handling them is smoother and easier than anything, but thickness might be an issue for some.
Camera is overhyped.. nice overall but with so much hype about that high ISO I can't see much difference against flagships of yesteryear or even the one before (read: there's a difference but not as promised). I think they should've went with 12 MP on both sensors, but that's me ranting.
I still think this is an overpriced gimmick (a cool looking speedy one). Given Sony's more than amazing camera lines I still can't see why they can't deliver better experience in their phone camera department.
16:9 screen ratio? A lot smaller bezels? Even better design? Better battery life? Bigger screen? Headphone jack? Flagship grade camera? Flagship performance?
Save half of your money & buy vanilla Mate 10.
XZ2 premium is not 2 times better than the Mate 10.
Go to photo comparison tools between XZ2 premium & Mate 10, tell me which is better in both daylight and low light. Of course video recording a lot better on Xperia side, but double the price doesnt justify the overall performance of the phone.
I've seen a few samples of the XZ2P where the merge mode wasn't so bad, but looks like this bad performance is the norm, I think this review is already done on production firmware. The merge mode is as bad, or even slightly worse than Huawei's in terms of smearing, while somehow DR is slightly reduced, as opposed to Huawei's DR boost, and this is done with a dedicated processor. Sony's had a bad track record on processing, but I still have to say I'm disappointed in this performance.
In daylight, Sony's somehow gotten chroma NR wrong and left more chroma noise than optimal, this is also strange as boosting chroma NR leads to very little smearing, only a little decrease in saturation and color fidelity but this is beyond the performance of smartphones. On m43 or above you may notice the colors turn a little flat on a chroma NR boost, while the image may look a little more realistic, lively, when a little chroma NR is suppressed at the cost of a little chroma noise, but on smartphones too many other factors influence the results, and the color signal isn't good enough to begin with.
I am a Sony fan but with this battery life and no Headphone jack for that price. I will forgo the 4k screen and get the XZ1 instead or the new compact version.
I commended Sony for the camera though, keep it up Sony! Nice improvement except for bokeh effects though. And don't stop making phones, we like Sony phones.
