And nokia has similar brand appeal as htc.

The poco f1 is still $80 cheaper in my country of India for one. Then battery life is a bit better and lastly the poco has an ir face unlock which works brilliantly and I have stopped bothering with fingerprint scanner.
Honestly processor is the main differentiator. Else you can compare the htc to some $200 phones that have slower processors like the sd450 but with same ram / memory conifg.

The battery is not much larger, the screen has a notch, the body isn't premium or splash-proof, etc.
What I'm saying is, some people couldn't care less about the speed of the phone, but want well-rounded features.

I already like this phone a million more times than the U12+. Thanks for keeping the 3.5 mm jack HTC. With more sensible decisions like these, HTC might come back to profits again and return to it's glory days.

For the same price, you can get a new LG V30 in the US with SD835 and the full package. HTC's pricing strategy is a big failure.

That phone costs half of the htc and has more ram and memory along with stock android and a 5000 mah battery. The only advantage htc has is name and build quality along with a better camera. But performance will be more or less same as the Asus which also lacks a notch.

I can't justify the plastic frame! Still, looks unique enough and should be fine for lots of people.
Hope the price is right this time *fingers crossed* you can do it HTC!
