people are hating the big top and bottom bezels but it is there for some purposes- not only does it allow you to rest your thumb there when gaming (so you don't rest it on the screen itself), but those also houses the loudest and best sounding front-firing speakers ever in smartphones. i own a razer phone and nothing comes close to the sound reproduction of the independently amplified speakers on it, and i heard per MKBHD they kept it on the razer phone 2. it produces clean and clear sound with punchy bass; those are dolby atmos certified anyway. i may be biased here as i have said my current phone is the original razer phone, but i have compared it to several flagships with front-facing speakers and i think nothing really comes close to how good it sounds. i worked as a professional club DJ and as an assistant to a sound engineer for several years, i also grew up in a family of audiophiles (my father had a collection of high-end speakers and tube amps), so i know a thing or two when it comes to sound reproduction. i could atest to the fact that the razer phone has the best speakers ever in smartphones.
there are also those who hate black thing lining the edges of the display. the aluminum frame on the original razer phone does not go all the way to the top to constitue the bezel on the sides of the phone as in other smartphones with flat or 2.5D glass, so you can consider those black lining as the bezel itself; and if you compare it with other flagships with flat or 2.5D glass fronts those are as thin as others.
again, i may be biased in defending this brand because i am using the original razer phone as my daily driver for almost 2 months now. i was using flagships from samsung before this and i know some people who use flagship phones of other brands as well, so i have compared it with sizeable enough number of smartphones and i still am standing by its strengths. i would agree with the criticism on the camera and the battery, but the screen and speakers has no equal until this razer phone 2 per initial hands-on reviews.
sweaf, 11 Oct 2018I instantly knew that this phone has an LCD panel just by looking at that thumbnail. LCD is dead.oled tech is not capable of 120Hz refresh rate yet. once you have experienced and got used to a 120Hz screen, everything else lower than that seems choppy.
sweaf, 11 Oct 2018I instantly knew that this phone has an LCD panel just by looking at that thumbnail. LCD is dead.LCD is not dead. Only subpar companies do not want to make improvements to LCD.
GovindRuby, 11 Oct 2018OLED can't do 120hz at 1440p Have you heard of 120hz 1440p OLED gaming Monitors? No you have... moreSharp had the prototype for Igzo oled before, but I am not sure if it can go up to 144hz.
As fart as Qi chargers go, this one is actually pretty powerful, rated at 15W. --nice typo
Anonymous, 11 Oct 2018no oled screenOLED can't do 120hz at 1440p
Have you heard of 120hz 1440p OLED gaming Monitors? No you haven't, as they do not exist.
The bezels are intentional, so you have something to grip besides screen...
Anonymous, 11 Oct 2018I notice that this is the opinion of most who only look at it in photos. Try holding it in you... moreNope, the design already off to me, design more important to me than holding feel.
- The black bar surrounding the screen look very bad and I never like it. This is freaking ugly and I always dislike border at screen.
[deleted post]Apple uses one of the slowest charging speed via Qi.
For instance Samsung... you know how the sentence ends.
Sawcon muhdieck, 11 Oct 201864GB only for a gaming phone really Razer.....At least unlike the other gaming phones, this one has a microSD slot that goes up to 1TB. Taking all those saves with you on the go.
Also, the website does say that a Satin back with 128GB was coming soon.
Ugly again
no oled screen
I instantly knew that this phone has an LCD panel just by looking at that thumbnail. LCD is dead.
Also, Raiju Mobile is a great accessory introduced!
Andrewtst, 11 Oct 2018Boring phone with same boring not so nice looking front design.I notice that this is the opinion of most who only look at it in photos. Try holding it in your hand, you might change your mind. Materials and feel can be a huge factor in the experience.
rama31, 11 Oct 2018Does the Razer phone 2 has face detection ?Yes
Anonymous, 11 Oct 2018I think they completely missed the one most important thing - expanding the screen to 18:9 6" ... moreI don't play many mainstream games, but the ones I do play on my phone I always have to force 'Compatibility mode 16:9' on my OnePlus 6. For a phone aimed at gaming, keeping this ratio is fine.
