the iphone XS max was my first phone but i change it to samsung note 9 i really love it it looks expensive

Xs has good cam,performance and longer support software updates but it is still very expensive.note 9 has good display and batter life and it is cheap and i am happy with camera quality.
Its your personal preference.

will75, 16 Oct 2018Loving the iphone max. Best phone out there. And now I have the best camera over sammy lol. Now note 9 has night mode and camera gets an update to improve camera quality compare to my sisters xs note 9 is way better.

I can't imagine myself using a phone without manual mode camera.
I Love to shoot stars, nightsky, and poorly illuminated wilderness shots. And I hate go to tracking, camping and adventuring in the wilderness carrying a big DSLR. I would never spend hours in a rainy forest, bath on waterfalls and ENJOY my time in the wilderness carrying that kind of bulk.
The cellphone is the best most practical camera for that in my case.
Some shots are impossible to do in a cellphone without manual mode. Like a a nightsky shot with the shadows of the threes below and in front of them.
I go to these places to have good times, not to sell pictures to magazines. But I still want to register my moments in the best way I can.

When you are comparing two cameras, we can not get any idea about color reproduction of those cameras. Because we do not know the actual colors. If you can provide some samples taken from at least a full frame camera showing natural colors, it will be more help full

You never had a dSLR--- or any interchangeable lens camera for that matter. For a while, I thought you were someone well versed in photography until your answers provided me clues of your photographic innocence. Your latest answer below regarding stopping down a "mainstream" fast F/1.4 lens just so I can attempt to "get them anywhere near premium lenses in terms of quality" is another proof of this photographic innocence. Photographers do not stop down fast f/1.4 lenses to make them "match or resemble more expensive lenses in photographic quality". It's an answer that can never come from a person who knows photography. No need to go on with this conversation. I can perfectly understand why you will never miss manual controls in a phone camera app.
