This is what happens when a company with their own OS tries to mimic their competitor.
Nexus line was the most balanced one whose bugs could be forgiven for the price.
Pixel series is not compelling enough apart from the camera experience.
Wish Google wakes up soon as it is still not as bad as it sounds. For now, Pixel 3 unfortunately looks like average product at premium price.

Apple atleast has iOS (12 is indeed smooth and snappy) and it's ecosystem to cover for iPhone's cons.

it looks like this time around the pixel is not the phone to get.
the s9 was pretty good all things considered, in particular that its been released a long time ago now.

the iphone is also surprisingly good despite some bad press

the xperia xz3 is also apparently a better buy than the pixel3

Cons
-The back is slippery (can confirm) and scratches easily (we've been told).
-Just the one cam on the back when everyone else has at least two.
-Severe throttling under sustained load, just 4GB of RAM, no storage options beyond 128GB, and no possibility for expansion. Google, give us a choice to add memory card for expansion, not shoving us cloud storage all the time!
-Disappointing audio quality through the dongle. Google, put the 3.5mm jack where it is!
-No 4K/60fps video recording.
-Limited availability.
-No 3.5mm jack since Pixel 2
-No microsd slot since Nexus S
-FORCED gesture based navigation since Pixel 3. Come on Google, give us options such as nav bar keys to navigate the UI! You know, CHOICES!

There, editor, fixed it for you.

Said battery life? It scores less than 70h.

5.5" 18:9 is pretty similar to 5.3" 16:9.

Xz1 scores 82h
S7 scores 80h

Pixel 3 should have scored 82 at least. It has oled and full HD

Just like Androidheadlines, the GSMARENA seemed more excited last year about the camera.
Review of P2 has much more shots.

It was kinda obvious that software improvements were going to face hardware limitation. At some point not even google will be able to extract more from 1/2.55".

For Pixel 4 they should consider going back to 1/2.3" or a bit bigger like 1/2". Maybe 16MP too to help.

Whackcar, 31 Oct 2018The primary reason why anyone would consider a Pixel phone is the camera, and it is clear now ... moreXDA have a nice list with all the Pixel 3 and XL issues. Worth to read too.

The primary reason why anyone would consider a Pixel phone is the camera, and it is clear now that Google is no longer the leader there. So you end up with a single camera setup which doesn't exactly outperform it's rivals.

The camera aside, there isn't much to look at here either, so it ends up being the least impressive flagship phone of the year.

Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against the Pixel phones, i liked the Pixel 2 even though it was behind it's rivals in everything except the camera. The thing is, It was different from others & it had the superior image quality to brag about. That just isn't quite the case anymore. The camera is the same, which is obviously not an improvement. It reuses the same design language as last year's Pixels, which looks quite dated now. It also doesn't have any exclusive features to offer, which could attract buyers. Due to all those reasons, I don't quite like it.

I'm hopeful though that the next Pixel will be a radical change in design & will improve on it's imaging capabilities, preferably having more than one camera... I would honestly applaud them for that.
