Also, like i wrote, only Sony have NFC in low, and mid range phones since forever (maybe 2011). Samsung, nop, LG, not all models, HTC, no, Nokia, Microsoft (well WP). Also this new generation of 'popular' brends. Huawei-Honor does not have in all models in low end and mid, Xiaomi does not have at all.. So i guess thats not big deal.

You are right about the XZ4 52MP rumors but the Redmi note 7 pro wasn't rumored to have a modified IMX586 . It was rumored to have the same setup of the regular note 7 with replacing the GM1 with the IMX586 but without modifying the sensor . The Pro is also rumored to be powered with SDM675 that can't handle more than 48MP

no, 04 Feb 2019The 48MP maybe the new trend of midrange smartphones because Sony's XZ4 is rumored to come wit... moreThe rumored 52MP in XZ4 is also rumored to "just" be a slightly modified IMX586, same as we will see in the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Sadly Sony's implementation of their own sensors is pretty much never the best one. They severely under process the photos leaving them bland and full of noise. Going too wide instead of standard+wide has also played against them in many comparisons.

Hopefully they will get their act together this year. They really should focus on this considering how much their mobile division is struggling. I was hoping for a wide + standard + tele, but looks like that won't happen this time.

As far as other sensors go, I don't think we'll see them in any of the flagships launching in Q1 or Q2, because then the sensors at least should have been announced by now. Even Q3 is unlikely for a sensor that isn't yet announced. IMX586 which we are starting to see now was announced already in July last year. GM1 was quicker, only three months, but Samsung sensors are not that common in flagships.

Pixel 4 on the other hand could be in line for a IMX-600 series.

Marco M, 04 Feb 2019Too late to edit previos post, but https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1... moreThe 48MP maybe the new trend of midrange smartphones because Sony's XZ4 is rumored to come with 52MP bigger sensor and Sony will announce the new IMX600 series very soon with new sensors and different resolutions , some of them were rumored to come with 38MP 1/1.8" sensor and another one to have a whopping 64 or 80MP 1/1.6" sensor with new Quad bayer and better SNR for better lowlight photos and 4 in 1 pixel pinning to have 16 or 20MP with at least the same ( if not better ) image quality of the 48MP sensor with more details due to the higher resolution and we may finally have 6K or 8K video shooting options .
All these are rumored to launch before the second half of 2019 and may be used in some flagships and leavind the 48MP trend to the mid range phones as the Redmi note 7

Samsung's Note9 and Pixel 3 takes the same beating in low light. Spot the fish in the bottom right corner. Same with the star, the heart, donkey, spongebob, bristles etc.

Looks like 2019 and the new 48MP camera sensors at 1/2-inch size will bring a majour leap in camera quality for low light photos.

Impressive photos, especially in low light. It will be interresting to compare with the Pro version with Sony sensor, I expect it to be even better. So now I'm all of the sudden both tempted of the rumored Mi Mix 3s (which is rumored to get the IMX586) as well as the Mi Max 4 which is rumored to get this 48MP Samsung one, only after having a bit more experience with it, so it should perform even better, and this is already really very good.

Check this comparison with S9+ and Iphone XS in low light:
                    https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=9513&idPhone2=8967&idPhone3=9318

Look at Spongebob and the donkey. Note 7 is both brighter and shows the blue eyes of spongsbob and the purple stripes on the donkey's back. It more clearly shows the bristles on the paintbrushes. A bit more noise than sammy some places, but noticibly less noise the iphone XS. Samsung's aggressive noise reduction makes the string bracelet appear to have no individual threads. So the price is detail loss in some cases on the S9+.

The bus route comparison is also very clear, bright white and clear colors on the note 7, dull and grey on the S9+ and barely any colors, iphone XS is very yellow, lots of noise and less colors.

What a bargain to get such a camera and overall performance at this price!

I hope redmi 7 have same camera and hardware with small/compact design .

S9, 03 Feb 2019I wonder, does in China people pay via NFC (for example, Alipay)? Also, don't know why those ... moreFor payment, they use QR code (Quick Response Code; also called two-dimensional barcode).

NFC can be used only for android devices, but not for iOS devices.
QR code can be used for both devices and is more secure. (QR code has been integrated into iOS.)

QR code is more popular in Asia, while NFC is more popular in North America.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2019Removing ads is free afaik If you absolutely do not want to spare 5 minutes to disable ads,... moreYou seems doesn't understand, I get it. Of course disabling the ads is free, who said it wasn't. But the phone doesn't come in a zero price tag, does it? So why there's so many ads, when one must pay for the phone? Disabling the ads is just denying the reality that it's ad-filled OS. And pay double for alternative? Nah mate, Realme 2 Pro and Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a worthy alternative with pretty much the same spec and price, and yet their phone is not ad-filled, lol.
