Same main camera and tele as S9+. Disappointing when everyone else is going larger sensor

This is much more secure than an optical in-display sensor, which can (and has) been fooled by a high-quality photo or scan of a fingertip. It's also much faster and rivals the speed of the standard capacitive sensor. As a plus, sound waves "bounce" differently through dirt and grime (and even olive oil) so things should still work just fine if your hands are a bit dirty. that's something even the capacitive sensor can't boast.

And yes, the advantage is it doesnt need a light.

Nothing special and it's over $1000. Pass!
Anonymous, 20 Feb 2019No... Expensivest hole in the world right now! Best? No f..ng way...Correct. There is no BEST phone. Period
Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019Nope Face ID more easy to use and more practical than on screen fingerprint. But cause Android... moreFor you. I much rather have a fingerprint sensor.
Maybe you have watched more closely. This fingerprint is different than all the others that use light. Samsung's are ultrasonic. You can use fingers that are wet. You don't have to wake the screen to use it.

I'm definitely keeping it like this for general use & refit protector for hazardous environments, I think it was the dot matrix of the protector spoiling the detail, I'll consider nano liquid protection (if I find 1 that I'm certain isn't snake oil).

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019Nope Face ID more easy to use and more practical than on screen fingerprint. But cause Android... moreI have a Note 9 with a fingerprint reader on the rear and Iris scanner on the front. At work I usually leave my phone on its wireless charger stand and that is an easy fail for face/iris scanners (and rear mounted fingerprint readers for that matter). Simply because the phone isn't angled towards my face in that situation. Lay a phone flat on a table and it obviously goes from bad to aaargh.
My point is, a front mounted fingerprint reader is king for unlocking. If you can reach your phone (and actually use it) you can always unlock it without having to pick the phone up.
Sean, 21 Feb 2019As usual Samsung images look like plastic paintings when pixel peeping. And the back of the S1... moreI don't understand the plastic painting comment but no 2 phone brands will have the same quality pics. Some will like the dull colors of the iPhone while others will like the over processing of the Mate 20 Pro.
I'm definitely know pro photographer but I've taken beautiful pics with even the 3mp shooter on my old HTC Magic phone. The photo's look amazing from what I've seen, same with all the newer cameras. I just cant wait for mine to come in so I can test the low light capabilities.
Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019Look nice but added Samsung software junk, poor update record and poor support keep me from bu... more1. If you used the actual Samsung apps you would find that more often then not they are better optimized than the generic versions found on other phones (not all but some)
2. What do you mean poor update record? My S8 is getting Android 9 soon, not sure if I want it as my phone works phenomenal with Android 8 (maybe other cheaper brands need to constantly update as they are rushed to market and don't function as intended).
3. What sort of support are they poor at offering? I've never had a problem with any of my Samsung phones and when I have a question or concern I have always been able to get through to a live chat agent or via phone call. They even respond to email's faster than most large companies I have emailed.
Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019Nope Face ID more easy to use and more practical than on screen fingerprint. But cause Android... moreActually a fingerprint sensor (any fingerprint sensor) is more practical than any face detection.
Almost all the time you want to unlock your phone you will be touching it. Not all the time you want to lift it from the table and put it in front of your face. Actually, it's extremely common that i unlock my phone when it's on the table near me. It can't see my face of course.
If it comes with Facebook Pre-installed with no uninstall option I would consider other phones. Done fall for the disable feature. If you can't uninstall it then you can't uninstall it for a reason. Facebook did not pay Samsung for nothing to make sure it can not be uninstalled.

Wide angle shots don't look any better than my LG G6, in fact to me they look worse around the edges. I expected more from Samsung, the main camera is fantastic but I'm not trading down on my wide angle.
Wish if Samsung didn’t add an SD card slot android already supports OTG and SD card still slower than internal nand storage.
Sawsan, 21 Feb 2019Because people prefer to use fingerprints?Nope Face ID more easy to use and more practical than on screen fingerprint. But cause Android as OS didn’t impleantat yet this the reason why Samsung didn’t add it, yeah mate 20 Pro comes with proper face 3D ID, but still not as accurate as iPhone XS Max Face ID.
Ehsan, 21 Feb 2019Still no fast charging is something that I consider an absolute deal breaker. 15w, that is jok... moreIt is 40w fast charger
15w is if you are using it to charge other smart devices like watches or other phones
As usual Samsung images look like plastic paintings when pixel peeping. And the back of the S10's looks ugly with those cameras the way they align them
Copy the cat, 21 Feb 2019Lol dead pixel phone? The hole in the screen is so eye irritatingYou can change the settings on the screen to drop the screen below the cutout, cuts off part of the top but may look less annoying :)
