Someone, 30 Mar 2019M8, p30 can save RAW, so all PP is up to You to decide, no need to use heavily postprocessed J... moreYes, it is so premium and so 'PRO' so as to be worth $1000... At least that's what smartphone manufacturers would like us to think. It's good for their business.
Let me get my point straight. There is absolutely zero reason why you should buy a $1,000 smartphone if your upgrade reason is 'better photos'. That amount is better spent on a dedicated interchangeable lens camera, fast lenses and learning photography basics. Smartphone manufacturers do all sorts of misleading and fraudulent advertising to convince users to upgrade to mind boggling, ever increasing $1,000++ smartphones. Technology is supposed to advance with costs remaining the same or even going down due to it being more available, due to improved, more efficient manufacturing processes, and due to wider, more cut throat competition. The only reason why smartphone prices keep on increasing despite marginal improvements (smartphone improvements have slowed down/technology has matured) is because of prestige and perception marketing. What Apple used to do exclusively (prestige pricing) is now being practised by other smartphone manufacturers. Fraudulently marketing a smartphone camera as having 'dSLR like' photo quality with that 'PRO' monicker to appeal to the naive masses to make them think they will be saving money, is misleading at the very least. They make the naive smartphone buyer (those who never owned a dSLR or those who do own one but only have kit lens and never grow up from full auto mode), think that a new $1,000++ smartphone can save them serious cash because the premium phone can do the job of a $300 entry level dSLR with kit lens + additional $400 30mm f/1.4 prime lens while also being a smartphone, all in one device. Never mind if there's still $300 left which can be used to buy a new Pocophone F1 which frankly, has 95% of the photographic capability and processor performance of premium smartphone cameras. And to think, those amoled screens and sealed batteries will be badly deteriorated in a few year's time, resulting in a new phone upgrade while a dSLR and lenses will last as long as 10 years.
I still have a 2010 model Canon dSLR which I frequently use with 30mm F/1.4 lens and it still puts to shame ANY SMARTPHONE CAMERA bar NONE in low light.
My advice? Keep your 2-3 year old flagship phone, buy a real camera, and help reduce electronic wastes ending up in landfills.
Hudinited, 30 Mar 2019It was marketed on camera but it's not all about the camera... Can you make calls on DSLR? can... moreOf course you can't make calls with a dSLR in the same way you can't take serious - dSLR like low light/high ISO photos with ANY smartphone - no matter how much smartphone manufacturers and review sites profess to claim otherwise. The sheer sensor size difference alone will totally wipe out the smartphone competition. Add to that the interchangeable lens options and the massacre is complete. No amount of computational photography or gazillion GHZ of any smartphone's image processing capability will compensate for those two main shortcomings.
If the MAIN reason why you upgrade your phone is because you honestly, truly, really believe it will do more to your fake bokeh/portrait shots, low light photos and moon photos (telephoto shots), then I'm sorry to say you're wasting your money and getting fooled by DXOmark and other review sites who claim 'dSLR quality' in a smartphone. While there's some improvement in a smartphone's low light, telephoto and blurred background capability, they're still all garbage compared to what a dSLR or a mirrorrless interchangeable lens camera can do. Seriously? They are only good for mobile phone screens. That is why if you belong to this upgrade group (upgrade smartphone solely because you want better photos), then I'm sorry to say you are WASTING SERIOUS amount of money. Better for you to keep your old smartphone and move up to a more serious photography tool. It will cost you less than $1000.
Now if the reason is something else (bragging rights, bigger battery, bigger screen, external storage option, faster processor, boredom with your old smartphone, etc. [photo improvement not the main reason], then by all means, feel free to waste $1,000 on a new smartphone even when all those (except for bragging rights) can be had in a $300 smartphone.

I have bunch of bright lenses for DSLR. Doesn't mean I don't want smartphone that will give me the best photos possible. I don't care for silly telephoto, but standard + wideangle that give RAWs and printable output? Count me in. I just hate that it is so "premium", glassy and with rounded screen. I'd like it simple and more rugged, or at least normal, so You could stick a proper protective screen, etc.

How many awesome photos did you make while you were playing soccer or basketball?

Can you make calls on DSLR? can you bring DSLR whereever you go ? I would like to see a guy who brings any kind of camera in nightclub, cafe, while playing soccer, basket or any kind of sport and last but not least i would like to see that pro who takes selfie with camera. Can you game on Camera? Can you work at camera (if you are not a photographer) ? I simply started use my device for job more often than my laptop... PC and ANDROID just putted my laptop to on sale. Can you even go online on DSLR?
OK i agree that you can buy budget phone and maybe that work for you but trust me once you own a flagship, everything but literally everything else looks like MEH... Web browsing , gaming, video call quality , multitasking , voice quality, speakers, UI, features, smoothness after all becomes just painful on a mid range device and even worse on budget... Here is my experience ... At the time i owned LG V20 (still live and capable today in my father's hands) i broke the display, and while my phone was on service i got Nexus 5x as replacement till my is back. which btw wasn't bad phone at all at the time but i just felt a huge difference... So with that being sad, if i must i can survive with good midrange phone but i don't want... and many flagship users think the same... I get your point and sure that phone cant catch up 2017-2019 camera but 2015-16 is just close enough and even if it's worse than that ( i wouldn't argue about bcs i used DSLR last time few years ago) , it's just impractical to carry even pocket size camera everyday and at the same time in another pocket you have some cheap phone so why wouldn't merge them and buy flagship so being in the middle and have great shoots in every possible situations... as far as the point of smartphone cameras go it's to catch the moment, memories, fun around you not to be a professional photographer... I would be a crazy if i disagree with you completely but it's thing of perspective and what you need it for.

Most reviewers (if they are good and well-known) recieve such units a couple of weeks before release so they have their reviews ready on release-day.
I am currently using the sony xperia xz premium.. was thinking of getting the p30 pro.. should i go for it ?
There are some thing that concern me in this phone and at this price. First, the P series were meant to be smaller to the Mate series, and this generation doesn’t make sense at all. The P30 is bigger than the Mate now, and if you want a smaller phone in Huawei, well, you might buy a 2-year old device, something important in a market that are including small phones, like the XS and S10e. Then, the screen, not provided from Samsung is noticeably inaccurate in terms of colors, in ANY kind of profile, and without any HDR or Add-on in it, it verifies that the screen supplier is not Samsung. Now, I understand that for making a difference between the Mate and the P series the resolution is involved, but when the price is the same, I can’t agree at that kind of differentiation. Taking away the stereo sound is just a bad move coming from Huawei, when Apple is recognized as one of the best sounding phone around, and Samsung being behind of the fruit, Google close to give us another try, and Sony and LG giving us the best coming from them. And, for the last, the chin, the chin in this device might no be there, because that was one year of work with the same technology, and having the same chin than the Mate 20Pro, and BIGGER than the Mate 20 (regular), it just doesn’t make sense another year in a raw. Now, the device is gorgeous, and is admittedly one of the best phones around, but having Samsung and Apple giving us more choices in terms of size without quitting us features, then Huawei might wake up, and work in at least 2 devices, being the same internally, but in different size. This device just compete with the big boys, but what about the smalls ones?
multiloop, 28 Mar 2019Could you please comment on its battery life? I'm contemplating between S10 and S10e.
Also, I... moreDisplay first: I have totally zero issues with the display quality. Color is gorgeous, This dynamic AMOLED is simply better than s9 and note 9 display! It has two modes, Natural and Vivid. Vivid is bright and colorful, while Natural is toned down and more like iphone accurate colors.
Battery wise = SOT = 6 hours LTE, 7 hours WIFI. Can get me through a whole day no problem.
Get s10e if you prefer
1) Curved vs Flat
2) Small vs Long
3) Faster and more accurate Fingerprint sensor (s10e is traditional capacitive)
otherwise, get s10. Display and battery life are not really those things you should be worried if you are picking between these two. Same.
Anonymous, 27 Mar 2019If this has 3.5mm i would instant buy. But now no deal. no 3.5mm audio jack is still somewhat acceptable, but no stereo speaker is a really let down.
Ark1985, 27 Mar 2019Curved Display is bad
No HDR 10
No gorrila glass
BOE = lower quality than samsung AMOLED
... moreagree on certain part, other part i think ill info
oled display is from samsung for p30 series
both display support hdr display
all huawei flagship use corning gorilla glass 5, front n back(including mate 20 series, p20 series, mate 10 series, u can lookup at corning gorilla site) even they dont mentioned it(no need to mentioned though).
other than that, i agree on certain specs ommision

You didn't account for the new file system in the p30 pro. It makes it waaaaay faster than the s10. Look up some new speed test comparisons. It smokes any other android phone. And buddy not a single Huawei phone was ever proven to spy. Period. Get that American nonsense out of here. This is no place for that.
NO PERFECT PHONE . You chose what you need more :
S10 = Display, Speakers, Software, Video, Panorama photos ( way more optimised), Dynamic range, Fingerprint sensor, Autorotate sensor ( way more responsive), Headphone Jack, AOD ( way more options and versatility) , Resale value, Better image, Heart rate sensor, Darkmode , steady video, photo suggestion mode
P30 Pro = Zoom Camera (not just better but next level), Night Photos ( way way better), Battery life(20-30% Better), Battery charging ( way way faster), Connectivity (lte, wi fi, signal, bluetooth, gps etc amazing), ergonomics of buttons, No Bixby , Sharper photos, Born fast stay fast ( most Samsungs are lagging after a period of intesive use. Huawei is as fast as new)
I tried to be as objective as possible. Both AMAZING phones vs competition
I want to see One+ fans comparing their 6t or op+7 vs this 2 GIANTS ... :)))

Save your money. Stick with your 2-3 year old smartphone and buy a dSLR and an f/1.4 prime lens instead, or an equivalent mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (with f/1.4 lens), or an advanced compact camera with an f/1.8 aperture option and 1" sensor like the RX100 V if bulkiness is a concern. No matter how much hype these $1,000++ camera-centric smartphones receive, they really are still horrible in low light. Just look at all the low light detail retention from all those 'best of the best' camera phones here. Excessive edge enhancement, noise reduction and sharpening that makes any dSLR owner with an f/1.4 lens cringe. You're better off sticking with your 2016-2017 flagship smartphone and buying a dSLR with f/1.4 prime lens instead for a less than $1,000. Smartphone manufacturers and those who never owned a dSLR and used it with an f/1.4 prime lens will never quite get to see just how horrible smartphone cameras still are in low light depite the glowing reviews from gsmarena, DxOMark mobile and other review sites. Yes they have indeed improved, but still really not much that makes the improvement worth wasting $1,000++ on with no significant improvement to offer other than the fake claim to 'dSLR camera' photo quality. Excuse me, I hate to burst the hype bubble but it's really a claim as fake as the camera hype these smartphone manufacturers and online reviewers nowadays are peddling.
