Nokia 9 compared to Lumia 1020
Actually sad that 6 years old camera phone can even compete nowadays...
B Z, 06 Apr 2019> Since the Nokia 9 doesn't have an analog audio port, HMD is also proving a 3.5mm-to-USB-C... moreYou're a real Fanboy, don't be silly and use your brain: They explained they expected USB-C earbuds with the adapter and not a 3.5mm jack ones.
So they sold the device with a headset which couldn't be used without the adapter....
This phone is simply a waste: From the box to the inside: Buggy as usual, thanks to Android One and the no-optimization team , 5 cams but can't shoot any 4K videos, pictures take several seconds before be recorded...
Seriously, after the review who can claim still have the willing to buy this thing? Damned, for a high-range device it should be rated 2 stars: A real mid-range with these inconveniences could have the 4 stars rate, but here we're talking about a high-range device... But that's Nokia by HMD: Beautiful outside, stinking inside...
LG Superfan, 06 Apr 2019SD 845 is 2018 SoC not 2017 and S8 has SD835 not 845 and the reason Pureview used 845 was beca... moreAnd how the other brands do? They don't rewrite/adapt their codes?
Why should we be sad for them? They don't give phones, they're selling them and we buy them, we give money to them.
So because they will have to work more, I should accept an outdated soc or buggy phone?
six_tymes, 06 Apr 2019Agreed, especially since this has the old 845 in it which came out in 2017. My wifes 2017 S8 ... moreSD 845 is 2018 SoC not 2017 and S8 has SD835 not 845 and the reason Pureview used 845 was because it was in development for a long time and switching to 855 would require alot of code rewritting
Anonymous, 06 Apr 2019A shame couldn't live up to expectations.... So it's doomed even before it's launch, . Let's f... moreNokia 9 is for PHOTOGRAPHY ENTHUSIAST or people with great knowledge on photography...not for people who pretend to know what photography is...
Andy, 06 Apr 2019I've lots of different review saying Nokia phones have buggy software. How are hmd managing to... moreSo true. And on top of it HMD can't update their One phones on time. As if they have 2 guys working for the software department.
> Since the Nokia 9 doesn't have an analog audio port, HMD is also proving a 3.5mm-to-USB-C adapter. We have to admit this is the first time a maker ships a smartphone, flagship at that, with a headset that will always require an adapter and we find this odd, if not lazy.
Nokia has shipped the device with earphones that can, with the adapter, fit into both USB-C and 3.5 mm jacks. Nokia has also provided a device that, with the adapter, can take both USB-C and 3.5 mm plugs.
Providing a USB-C set of earphones doesn't allow the user to use it with 3.5 mm devices. Having one set of earphones with an adapter to fit many devices makes more sense than having different earphones for each device we have. Inches of a single cord vs. feet of cords that can get tangled. Plus people generally only have teo ears, so it's not like you can make use of those extra earbuds you're lugging around.
It's not odd or lazy. It's logical and considerate.
Shanti Dope, 06 Apr 2019Okay, so let's settle the fact that 120Hz on OLED panels is possible, but then why aren't they... moreWhile OLED adoption is just getting hot enough with new players jumping in bandwagon things will change, price will go down and diversity will rise & with it high refresh rate one's will emerge but OLED will stay significantly pricier than LED's simply because some really rare element's are used for producing them. All fuss about OLED's is wrong & they reached their good sustainable performance & life expectation size per emitting cell long time ago (around 200~250 DPI) so that ain't the display technology of the future the micro LED's on fully developed substrate is. On today's PC market (which is slowly dying category) you cant find an good all around monitor no matter of it's price category and it goes up to the fact that it's much better to buy a good TV & use it as monitor. All the speach about high refresh rate is overpriced the blink of an eye (20 ms) is a golden standard for a refresh rate we could spot. That translates to minimum sustainable refresh rate of 50 Hz while there is no need to go over 90 Hz what so ever but there is a need for fast buffer syncing so that the dips under 50 Hz can be avoided.
regs, 06 Apr 2019Any idea when P30 will be reviewed? The review is already in the works and I think it will be ready in about a week.
I still don't why the hell everyone ditching HEADPHONE JACK.
I pray that SAMSUNG & LG should not to do this
Khaled6869, 06 Apr 2019120 Hz works with the Super AMOLED panels on the iPhone XS and XS Max, don't forget thatThat's touch sensitivity, the display itself isn't refreshing 120 times in actuality
Many will get this for the display, not the camera
I mean, it's almost one point ahead of the previous best smartphone screen in outdoor visibility, which means this phone will be the least problematic to be used under direct sunlight, and that will be beneficial to people who constantly use their phones outside.
I love Nokia, but this phone is lacking.
First point, Why is it ok to have to edit each and every image with adobe light room to get acceptable images?? Why do I need a special phone to do that ? You can do that with any phone. I guess if you are a photographer, then you will have to edit each and every image you shoot anyway because you are naturally unhappy about the world that surrounds you .
The 4k video Quality Sucks .
Yes, they hinted it at in the review. But let me just mention that again
The 4k video Quality Sucks
It may have been acceptable 2 years ago, but not today. Why release a supposedly photographers dream phone that lacks quality video. Maybe they should have limited this phone to pictures only with no available video capture mode.
I've lots of different review saying Nokia phones have buggy software. How are hmd managing to mess that up? They're using android one so it should be as big free as possible
