i tried it on my xperia xz3 couple days ago, it has nice features but it's not recommended for daily use as it has some bugs... just i was curious to test it... until the official release, i think it will be much better than the Pie

Still looks like garbage. Google will never make the quality jump. We're in desperate need of a brand new OS.

I wonder what is the point of bringing new mobile OS each year. Do we really need all these small new features? To me it sounds more like a way to drive sales of new phones. Otherwise the main things people do are still the same as 3 or 5 years ago - calls, sms, internet, games and so on.

"You can still tap on the hamburger itself, of course, but since most people are right handed and that is in the hardest-to-reach place on a screen for someone holding and operating a phone with the right hand, that's not ideal."

Well, can't say for everyone but I am right-handed, and I always hold my phone in my left hand so that my right hand is free both to tap the screen if necessary and operate objects other than the phone, so single-handed navigation should designed for the left-hand grip. Of course, in the ideal world there should be a setting for both grips.

I am courious if new OS from Huawei will be de-bloated. Looking forward seeing it. I didn't find anything spectacular in last 3 androids I have seen; it's becoming boring.

A new version of Android is not about the GUI... Is about the framework behind and what you can build on top of it...

So don't make any confusion between Android and the GUI... you can compare MIUI with One UI or Pixel UI... but never Android 9 with Samsung One UI because are different things...

"But one of the main benefits of using gestures over navigation buttons is the added usable screen real estate."

Disadvantage is gestures can be a learning curve to anyone who are already used to navigation buttons. That is why Google included choices of navigation as said below.

"Interestingly, after last year's Pixels came with only the gesture navigation system and no three-button navigation option, in this Android Q beta you have three options for how to go about the UI: the new gestures, the old gestures (why?), as well as the fixed navigation bar with Home, Back, and Recents buttons. If that sounds more messy than choice-y, it is. Let's hope it will become less so by the time Q has a name."

At least Google gives you a CHOICE of navigation for Android Q. Be more humble about that!! Nothing messy as far as I can see!!

Fixing what's not broken, changes that are questionable at best and a few hardly noticeable improvements... I never really understood what's the hype about new Android versions, since Android 7 it's been nothing but shuffling things that already work well, and sometimes the changes are even counterproductive just for the sake of bringing "something new".

I think Huawei users don't have to be too sad about not getting this update.

What about setting the ringer volume??? Will it go back to the way it was? I hate going all the way in the settings menu to lower or increase the ringer volume because Google had the bright idea to only let users change the music/app volume with the phone buttons...
