It is actualy clear and evident what this phone can do with its HDR, that none of western reviewers even make an effort of presenting or reviewing, even with competition included.
Its funny how easterns actualy love tech and review all of it's aspects, and westerns love fashion only, and review the design, including camera app design. They show you only the designed point n shoot aspects of the phone cameras, not actual tech abilities.
And readers/viewers do deserve more than that design only talk, especially for devices like this with such a different approach to mobile phone photography.

One thing is certain for me: Sony never did great cameras on their phones and it seems that this one isn't exclusion. Competition in mobile camera segment reaches the highest point know. Just good enough camera is not enough to justify $990 price tag anymore. Other companies doing it better and cheaper. Sorry Sony, I think you're on the way out from mobile business. Please feel free to take LG with you :).

I've now used this xperia 1 for a week or two. Here's my comments.
+ Display is good
+ 21:9 ratio is much better than the other phones
+ Works fast enough for me
+ Camera is ok for quick snap
+ WH-1000XM3 were good, should be included with the phone always.
- The single "stereo" speaker sucks. Low volume, single location, crappy marketing term for "it can make noises like dying racoon".
- Dynamic Vibration is a joke (sic)
- Camera hump is huge, ackward and bad. I'd expect the lenses to scratch in hurry.
- Who ever designed the exterior should be shot. Too thin, too slippery and every single button on same side.
- Camera/camera app for anything else is crap. No RAW, artifacts in JPG, rastering, auto sharpening.. I'd like to have an picture, not some artificially created extrapolation. (with OpenCamera you can take the RAWs)
Summary: Excellent Netflix & browdet phone. If thst is not your thing, move along. Buy grip tape if you het this.

Sorry Sony, but real men have tried, and failed, to comfortably watch soccer, etc, on a 19:5:9 screen. The real life guys always beg me to break out my Lenovo Phab 2, which is 6.4" screen, 16:9 aspect ratio.
21:9 is going to suck SO hard, lol.
It's amazing how so many people are clueless about these things.
Do the powers that be really want to cut new media with practically no height, and extreme amounts of width?
