Livid, 22 Jun 2019You can watch movies with your giant bezel phone, while I watch on my 65inch 4k TV...LOL good luck carrying your 65in TV in your pocket while normal people just use the smartphone they have in their pockets to watch a movie on the go.

Is it you Pro, 22 Jun 2019If future Sony use 4000 or more battery it is good but I wish it is the next generation batter... moreBoth Samsung & Huawei already has it all as per u mention. Heck Huawei even use the big battery & fast charging for many years already (Samsung only started). Plus the Supercharge its a TUV Rheinland safety certified. Have u ever heard any news about Huawei's Supercharge dangerous & causing any bizzare effects? Nope. That means its a success.

My old Honor 8 Pro & my wife Mate 9 4000mah battery still standing strong for 2 years & a half already, without the feels of degradation at all. Superb performance. I believe my new Mate 20 will be better. While my previous Xperia Z1, horrid. It got 3000mah & low charging but the battery worn out not even for 2 years. Has to replace new battery to make it work again. Its a known issue at that time, search for it on Sony's forum, a lot of user complaining about it.

So no, Sony refuse to put the bigger battery on Xperia 1 because of cost saving, for the bigger profit. Its bussiness anyway, its all about making money. And because their Mobile Department suffer a huge sale loss, any method has to be done in order to stay into the market.

Totally not the way to size up the battery and added more charging pins to run out the battery lifespan.

Let's see daily charge is probably fine, you get 100% all the next day, don't bother moderate usage.

Not to mention, you would need a certain amount of bezel to hold the phone..... People who are still complaining about bezel are just showing how stupid they are....

Shui8, 20 Jun 2019Seems like u got a point there. Amazing daylight samples. Thanks for sharing. However i've ... moreAgree on the blown out neon - it's a shame Sony can't reign that in a bit more. But I hear a lot about crushed blacks and it perplexes me; the dark areas are dark because it was,... Dark. The overall exposure is as the scene was in all of the shots bar, perhaps, the Spar shot.

HDR is only useful in so far as it aids in crafting a realistic image. If it's brightening a dark shadow then it's not delivering the scene, it's trying to 'improve' it - and the results aren't always the best. If you want a dramatic result, HDR is crap at night because it flattens out the shadow. No mood. No idea of how dark it really is.

I live out in the countryside. There's no bleed back light pollution so the shadows tend to be very dark - exacerbated by most of our streetlights being LED, which is very direct, like a spotlight.

As it happens, I did actually take a set of images to test the manual HDR at night. It worked just as you'd expect but the fine detail was less. Not remotely realistic but you can do it.

Shui8, 20 Jun 2019No. That is just pure BS. Its all about cost saving, for a bigger profit or a really bad marke... moreYour saying 3300 is not enough but a hardcore gamer would bring power bank even it is a 4000, because they can't stop playing games. And don't tell me 4000 can use for two days, if the next day your battery is still have 5-60% I am sure you will charge it to 100% before you go out for gaming whole day long, otherwise you will bring the power bank as a backup too. You forget to mention the Weight and Size this time, Xperia 1 has the lighter 178g weight and 8.2 mm slimmer to grip, that's why it has better experience on gaming because it is lighter and slim than others, the competitor come with wider width and heavier weight that will be a drawback on gaming experience. Dailly charge is fine as well, because the battery need to charge to remain healthy compare to don't charge it for a longer time.

Nick Tagataka, 20 Jun 2019"He has chosen to put these up and omitted to mention or show any images at all where the Xper... more "A few sharpening artifacts? I would say it's tons, even comparable to Nokia 9's level."

Come on, man - let's not go overboard: I just re-checked GSMA's samples - nothing touches the oversharpening of the Nokia 9: it's abysmal. Sony does sharpen and it brings in edge artifacts but it's less than early software P20 Pro shots, which everyone fawned over at the time. It's not the cleanest image - happy to admit that - but balance cleanliness Vs detail. The Pixel 3 is far noisier than the Xperia, for example, and both hold onto more detail than the S10+. I guess it's what you value more in your image: clean and plastic vs. rough and textured. I take the latter because my eye notices the flatness and oil-painting effect that the S10+ produces and I simply don't like it. Horses for courses.

Sorry if I came over as agressive: nout personal, man. But I've taken superb shots with this thing. I know what it can do and there are a lot of fan reviewers out there drawing all the wrong conclusions. I'm aware of its faults but I prefer its results.

Oh, and I agree on the bulb shot: reigning in light sources in the dark is not the machine's forte. But the lighting across the shot, so I've found, is always realistic (IE - not overlit or underlit), the colors are on point and it just hangs onto so much detail at night. Saf showed a picture of a bulb and a sign - I'd argue they were chosen because they were poor examples - and gave a flat-out wrong conclusion.

I make no bones about being a fan of the X1s camera. Doesn't mean I can't smell bullshit :)
