For those who know about it (which... moreThe feature works quite badly because Google doesn't adjust the exposure time when you adjust the shadows. So the shadows can be very noisy in average light conditions. Otherwise this is a great feature indeed. You can underexpose for getting more highlights and then adjust the shadows. Some camera manufacturers already offer similar things like Sony's DRO or Fuji's shadows setting, but they don't give you a slider. Furthermore apparently Google makes sure that boosting the shadows doesn't make the image lack contrast or look artificial.

Battery life is a disaster. After 6 months of usage it will hold 2-3 hours screen time on one charge. Disaster!

I find this to be the most fair review on the Pixel 4. I own the pixel 4 and got it on the black Friday deal for $599. The reason I got it was because my wife's phone started acting up and I gave her my LG G8. I will say in my opinion the G8 is a much better value than the Pixel 4. I bought the G8 for $499, and that has a better display, better battery, better front look, more base storage, headphone jack and some other things the pixel lacks. I would have felt better if I paid $499 for the 4 rather than the 599. For the record though I don't think the pixel 4 is bad either, and I rather like it. Overall there is jut not much in the compact phone category and the pixel 4 is one of the better ones.
One criticism I have with this review and others like it is that they bring up the oneplus phones as competition but they are a different size. Reviewers need to stop doing this unless you are only saying just as a smartphone in general, which throws a whole bunch of phones into this category. The competition for the 4 is the s10e, G8, Nokia 9 pureview, and others in this size category I may have missed.
There is one neat trick the pixel line does for me that no other phone can do without me paying my carrier for it, and that is transcribe voicemail on the native voicemail in the phone. It cose extra with my carrirer but the pixel phones do it without the feature.

LOL, don't you just love the comments here. My phone is better because it has better specs... SMH. Pixel will always have the best, seamless user experience, battery on the small pixel after 2 weeks of running in/use, is not an issue, camera is unsurpassed as usual, software support is the best in Android.

Pixel 4 does have those rubbish hardware and poor marketing strategy, the latter discounting it heavily as a marketing ploy. Not to mention the phone breaks easily (go see JerryRigEverything's durability test). Small battery too.
Who cares about Shamsung these days? You've got all the Chinese OEMs. They have much better performance, possibly better cameras, also better battery life, audio, kit, etc. Thanks, makes Realme X2 Pro, OnePlus 7T, etc. shines even more.

Chipset should have been Sd855+. Last year Pixel 3 was a downclocked Sd845. Anandtech has mentioned a flaw with the camera, go read the article. I have touched both the Pixel 3 and 3 XL in a phone store. Looks ugly. Not to mention the high price at launch and discounting it later as a marketing ploy. Loses out to most Chinese competitors. I like my new Realme X2 Pro by the way.
Oh don't tell me the Pixel 4 can bend easily. If you've seen the durability test, the Pixel 4 is an embarassment. The antenna bands are an issue.

Pixel 4 has no microphone or sound issues. The bottom of the phone is charging port to each side is a 2-1" holes where speaker and microphone uses.
I have pixel 4 XL and Google is getting slammed. I don't think it's apples to apples. The iPhone xr is what Google was trying to better. It's way better than the xr.
If Google issued another phone in January it would beat iPhone 11. iPhone also knew xr was going to be smashed so they quickly fixed issues. Every one says iPhone 11 has amazing camera but Google updates throughout the year. Pixel photos are going to get better as each pixel had best camera when it releases. The battery is much better than pixel 3 xl we had. It's not the best in big 4 with Galaxy OnePlus, apple and Google. It has much better screen resolution but they don't mention that. It also of big 4 best apple and Galaxy in amount of charge in an hour.
It's best phone on the market in my opinion and one plus, Apple and Samsung are all about the same. No phone has highest mark in all categories.

Colors from camera look great, noise is quite bad however. Could easily choose rog2 or xperia1 instead.

The issue on battery life isn't an issue for me either however, I purchased a suction cup portable Qi battery to use when needed. RAM is an issue. Some of my games either are choppy or crashes.... Great phone but I think they should make a Premium version with top of line specs or make this top in spec sheet.

Does the Pixel 4 suffer from the same microphone issues as the Pixel 3? I recall many Pixel 3 owners complained about poor audio when video was shot with rear camera/mike. More specially, human voice was drowned in background noise. Google then issued a half-assed software fix... How is it on the Pixel 4?

Does anyone know that Apple puts 4gb memory RAM in the latest and greatest flagship phones? No because they are fast! Well there you go then, Google Pixel is the iPhone of Android world.
I've been an Apple user since the iPhone 3Gs days until Xs. And just started using the Pixel 4 launch I'm super impressed with Google has done.
My wife has a Samsung S10, tell me that phone takes better pictures or is a faster phone or even has a better battery life? I don't think so!!! However, just cuz Samsung is good on papers, it's all good in the Samsung world.

google should focus only on its numerous android bugs and may be on its search engine not showing much adult contents even with safe mode turned off, hardware parts should be left to notable android giants.

It's funny with all the negative reviews. Do you guys even own a pixel 4 or 4 xl. I have had every version of the pixels and I have to say the pixel 4 xl is a great phone. It runs smooth the battery life doesn't seem to be an issue for me. The picture qauilty is amazing. My wife has an iPhone 11 pro Max and the pixel 4xl has taken better pictures most of the time.
