Sensor being bigger is also a factor not just wider aperture.

I bet you haven't even tested the phone, just pretending to be an armchair expert.

It looks for me like marketing bullshit..... 108 mp... no... 27mp.... Why simply they don't make a 27 mp camera with the 2,4 (i think it is the equivalent of the 108 mp and the 9 pixel combination) pixel size... Is there any difference...? I truely want to know because this pixel war without the real sensor size increasing.... it is the marketing trick. So i ask users and GSMArena too... What is the benefit of this sensor over a 27 mp sensor with the pixel size of 2,4?

Most cellphone users don't care about zooming to pixel peep little details. What matters most are HDR, color, no artifacts, and no distortion. Most just snap a photo and post it on social media. They don't crop and they don't edit. If you look at the sample photos through the cellphone screen, tablet, or laptop, Samsung clearly is better.

But yes, it is a lot of pixels. But I also have to say that sensors have evolved a lot and perform better even with small pixels.

In reality, "extra" megapixels in such a super tiny pixel sensor, are only good for zoom/cropping without losing detail. It would be smarter, to increase the SIZE of each sensor than to continue to stuff more and more sensors into such a tiny area. All that does is increase the signal to noise ratio, on low light photos, causing the camera software to use software "tricks" to take out the noise, then more tricks to try to enhance the photo. The purpose of an image sensor is to capture the light & detail. With larger image sensors, not more, will surve that purpose. Larger sensors & larger lenses...but, people think more is better, and, the "stylish" crowd would be upset with the camera bump on the back.

Xiaomi's processing still looks oily but it managed to do much better because of that big 27MP sensor..

Their tech is inferior to Sony.

BBK sisters will choose imx686 over this isocell.
Huawei will use exmor.
Apple will use exmor for main camera.

Whalter, 05 Jan 2020Can GSMArena just use Gcam for the comparison? The stock camera app is WAAAAY too limiting...I have seen test done by a photographer.
Gcam does not make improvements to all phones.
It will never give same results of Pixel, even if you phone has same sensor, same f1.8 and same quality of lenses.

HDR is something completely different, post processing by mixing pictures with different exposure levels. Pixel binning is mostly to weed out hardware inconsistencies that software struggles to fix.

Some people think that Quad Bayer sensors are great because they allow for a different HDR technique. But this comparison actually indicates that the Xiaomi Note 10 doesn't have an advantage in this regard. Possibly Xiaomi even doesn't use the Quad Bayer HDR technique. It's not clear whether Quad Bayer HDR works better or worse than Apple's / Samsung's HDR. Actually no company has even said when or whether they use Quad Bayer HDR. So gsmarena should stop the Quad Bayer HDR speculation as it is nothing else than speculation. A recent article from Samsung about its HMX sensor even didn't mention the HDR technique https://news.samsung.com/global/video-samsungs-isocell-bright-hmx-brings-the-high-performance-of-professional-cameras-to-the-smartphone . Apart from the theoretical HDR technique, a Quad Bayer sensor in the low resolution mode has no noise advantage over a low resolution sensor of the same size.

DantE O2, 04 Jan 2020note 10+ costs twice as much as mi note 10 , do you really need a comparison between the two?Yes. You did not get the reason for the comparison and it is not a comparison for which phone is better. It is to compare two flagship Cameras and Xiaomi is the only one with 108 mp sensor.
