Can anybody tell me the sound quality using moniter earphones of p40. My present phone is Samsung S8+ which I normally use as reference.
"Well, if you do the math, the optical zoom isn't exactly 5x as 125/27 equals 4.63 (if shooting in default mode), but then 125/23 equals 5.43x (for when shooting in high-res mode). Yes, 5x seems to be the average of these two"
No, it isn't. The P30 Pro cropped the 125mm camera, so you got 27x5=135mm. Only in pro mode with raw turned on, you could use the full 125mm field of view of the periscope camera, then the field of view is larger indeed. If you use less than 5.0x (for example 4.9x) in the default mode, then the image quality is much worse, so you couldn't use the periscope camera at 125mm in the default mode.
The P40 Pro exif data indicate the same behaviour. At 5x you get a 135mm field of view and not 12 megapixels, but rather 10.
"The Mate 30 and the P40 series are here to prove that there is a life after Google" actually the opposite of it .
The mate 30 launch for 4 months in singapore and the price already $430 now less than half of the launch price .
Anonymous, 27 Mar 2020I will preorder this or P40 PRO Plus... Bro, but Huawei does not have google play store and googler service. Think twice
S Yu, 26 Mar 2020So, while they boasted about a bigger sensor than the Samsung, it actually shoots cropped by d... moreMy guess is that they opted for wider angle lens for the main camera so that they can crop in during the video recording more and make more room for the frame to move around for smoother stabilisation, similar to why Sony had been opting for 24-25mm equiv. lens for years back in Xperia Z/X/XZ era. This is quite questionable decision, however, since UWA camera should be better suited for this kind of purpose, and cropping photos to 27mm equiv. FoV without giving users an option to toggle it on or off is nothing but user-unfriendly IMO.
The processing in general is a regression from Mate 30 Pro's very natural detail rendition mainly due to increased sharpening, though the low light performance looks to be a noticeable upgrade and those photos admittedly look quite amazing. There are some glitches and bugs to iron out (mainly the colour rendition of telephoto lens in low light) but hopefully they will fix it by the time it becomes available to consumer.
And meanwhile I'll be patiently waiting Mi 10 Pro to be released in where I live... I'll consider buying Huawei once AppGallery has all the business/personal apps that I use on my current phones and good alternative to Google Services (I don't think it'll come out any time soon), but until then, no go for me.
The low light white balance is just shocking. Phone manufacturers really need to understand that there must be a white balance slider in auto mode!
I have a Pixel 3a, but I nearly never use its camera because the white balance is worse than the camera of my Google Nexus 5x. I don't care about details when the colors are completely wrong.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2020Lol keep dreaming brolol this is true. go watch reviews in youtube and see for yourself.
AnonD-896879, 26 Mar 2020Not better than my mi mix alpha 5g 12gb/512gb with ceramic , titanium and wrap-around displayLol keep dreaming bro
The image quality of the P40 Pro 125mm camera is really impressive in good light conditions. Better than the P30 Pro 135mm camera due to the higher megapixel count.
Wow, I didn't expect last year's P30 pro to perform better in low light than this year's phones. I agree with everyone here that p40 pro is a downgrade in photo quality as well as its looks.
Emeline Shaw, 26 Mar 2020Extremely disappointing phone:
- sh*tty low-res display
- very bad cameras (all the other ... more- very bad cameras (all the other phones take better photos, except with the ultra wide cam)
- last year, sh*tty chipset
And there goes all your credibility. Bet you never even touched Huawei flagship or else you wouldn't spew such a 'sh*t'.
Whats interesting is that patterns shot with its 9.1mp(down from mate30 10mp) still looks better than on iphone/galaxy's 12mp. They are getting better.
Ok,judging by the sample pics here,I think Huawei easily beats S20Ultra in both ultrawide and telephoto mode, zoomed photos are much better,Night mode obviously needs some upgrades, but this is a brand new device, surely an update will make things a lot better...it does look kinda ugly with that hole in display...
