Anyway, at least it clears some of your confusion understanding.

Isn't it ultrawide then?

You should know what you are talking about.

That guy was talking about some pixel binning theory.
If I knew the main was cropping then I wouldn't call it a ultrawide at all. But why did Huawei choose to crop the sensor ?
I believe GMARENA mentioned about 12.5MP images.
Is the phone up-scaling ? Why waste a big sensor then ? So, as the 23mm becomes 27mm .
I'm assuming they are not using almost 18% of the sensor ?

But yeah if the lens wider like others, interesting results still can be achieved.
AnonD-754814, 02 Apr 2020I got that earlier. You just didn't read my reply properly ?

- Then u got two UWA, one with more wider than another. I believe most person will use the 12.5mp mod.
Also the binning theory just made the ultrawide camera even worse. If the 23mm is 27mm for main camera then what will be the 18mm for the wide angle camera?
- The crop sensor only happens with main lens. The 18mm remains even after binning.
Knows your stuff first.

It's still 18mm. It only crops the image in the main camera for whatever the reason.
Shui8, 02 Apr 2020And the final images at pixel-binned 12.5mp size cropped to 27mm. Get it yet?I got that earlier. You just didn't read my reply properly ?

Again, Like I mentioned earlier, the focal length is confusing to consumers and advantages to seller brands.
Field of view should be considered. And in this case I follow old Standard.
120 degree field of view. No confusion for different sensors.
AnonD-754814, 02 Apr 2020Yeah you don't get the point too. 23mm . Ultrawide. Uh, so what's exactly your point? Are you trying to argue that the main camera with 23mm equiv. lens is ALSO an UWA camera or 18mm equiv. lens shouldn't be considered as UWA at all? Sorry but I'm quite confused with what you're saying.

It's narrower than the competitors' but offers higher image quality, and you still get a lot wider FoV than the main camera. After all it's about personal preference rather than which of Apple/Samsung and Huawei's ultra wide is factually better than the other. Such an argument does not exist.
AnonD-754814, 02 Apr 2020Yeah you don't get the point too. 23mm . Ultrawide. And the final images at pixel-binned 12.5mp size cropped to 27mm. Get it yet?
Just focus on the camera and the high spec. One big mistake was the no great audio and stereo speaker. And set a high price. The lazy company designed.
Shui8, 02 Apr 2020I wont reply twice, as i've answered it already. Seems to me u still dont get the point.Yeah you don't get the point too.

Also I said before.
The main camera is also a Ultra wide camera according to your definition.

Just use trained eyes & obviously using DSLR pics are enough for me. If some ad is indeed using actual smartphone camera, why bother to put the 'for illustrative purposes' watermark?
Oh and the S20 Ultra on its 100x Space Zoom ad (the one that people wave from air balloon)? Definitely a DSLR, edited & degraded quality. We know the actual x100 zoom quality on actual S20 Ultra are way more abysmal.

Isn't it kinda funny when ASUS made a very similar teaser to this back in 2017 for Zenfone 4 announcement, absolutely nobody found it misleading or problematic? And it suddenly became a problem for P30 Pro, I wonder why.

Yes some part of blame goes to them as well. But they can't really focuses on midrange all the time in all country. This didn't happen from their official page, neither did happen for their flagships. Also don't forget who did that ? Hong Kong ( basically a Chinese).
Just like I said earlier. You can't trust them.
But Huawei does those cheating from their main page. They also got caught doing it for their flagships.
AnonD-754814, 02 Apr 2020I won't consider it unless it's 120+ degree field of view. What can I say , I'm old-School.Its up to you if you wont consider it. Doesnt change the fact that its indeed actually an UltraWide.
