Epic Fail OP!
So because it's not the pro version you ''punish'' people by putting a dull camera setting?
old gen sensor and a BS 2mp macro instead of a telephoto?
OP will disappear from the market as fast as they appeared with this catastrophic marketing

Both the 8 and 8 Pro are failures out of the box.
They are expensive because Qualcomm have forced their remote 5G modem on to customers and OnePlus have failed to add anything compelling to the handset to compensate. Displays are great but the wow factor won't last.
Zoom is essential in 2020, nothing (for the 8) and 3x (for the "Pro") simply doesn't cut it.
OPPO (their parent company) are hogging the better camera tech to justify prices leaving 1+ floundering.

i dont understand why are so many ''readers'' upset with the price tag (of any new phone). customers are making the issue. look at the samsung galaxy S20-serie. ULTRA, the most expensive model is the top selling one. it means that people are willing to pay that money for a huge brick in their pockets - doesnt matter whats the reason. i am not wondering that other companies are trying to cut a piece of that cake for themselves.

OP 7T ~ 34,999₹
OP 8~ 53,000₹

OP has gone horribly wrong in the pricing segment. OP 8 pro will be competing with flagships phones which is understandable . However, OP 8 price is massively overpriced.

Oneplus 8 should have had the same cameras as the Pro but use the SD765 to lower the price down to $649 and would have been a killer phone.
Let the 8 Pro get the 120Hz bigger display with SD865, the pure 8 should have been about an upgrade in cameras and 5G compared to 7T.

'Renowned companies like Apple and Samsung'?

Really, GSMArena? Companies who dont even know how to make processors (Samsung Exynos) and software (Apple, Samsung) properly?

The only thing 'renowned' with Apple and Samsung is the brand

Peter, 14 Apr 2020"This puts OnePlus' handsets even closer to high-end phones from more renowned companies like ... moretotally agree with you and OP. lesser price of OP phones wont be anymore a valid excuse to buy Oneplus phones. maybe ill look into samsung phones again (previous flagship ofc) if my i ever look into flagship territory.

im happy that i was able to buy OP 7T. but cashing in 700 USD for a new OP phone, i better to hold my 7T for 3 years and buy quality midrange for my next phone.

Horrible phone,

A vastly overpriced unit that is worse than the 7t in key areas.

I did not even need to see from whick phone the photos come from.
All those 12Mp photos have that "same look" .
You look at it, you know it is 12MP.

Overpriced after being overhyped! One plus standard version is supposed to be the affordable flagship/ flagship killer, instead it killed it's own core value with overpricing of its ordinary specs phone , for this price range everyone must be expecting a telephoto lens and the main sensor imx 586 is decent but it had been found in many low level devices also, they should have atleast provided imx 689 for the main sensor,
Still same ufs 3.0 , ddr4 ram which is good enough but competitors are providing ufs 3.1 and ddr5 at lesser price range than op8.
Except for the little upgrade in chipset and future use of 5G, op7T is way better than this overpriced......

"This puts OnePlus' handsets even closer to high-end phones from more renowned companies like Samsung, Apple and Huawei. Excuses like the camera not being on par with the latest flagship phones because the price is considerably lower will no longer be a valid argument."

Very well said. Very well. And this is the reason I won't buy it.
