Anonymous, 30 May 2020LG does way better 8k with Hdr and full manual mode controls without the autofocus issues. LG 8K is the beast. The best filming experience on a mobile phone. But does anyone talk about it? Nope. Instead you got boards full of OnePlus people rambling about fast refresh rates, some display records and what not. People are drinking marketing koolaid like it's 1820 and not 2020.

This is a very likeable phone with very unique useful features
Wind filter, heat suppressor, fast autofocus, 4k-capable camera and display at the same time. Stereo speakers, 360 audio.

Raw format capability, Pro apps, 3.5mm Jack, the camera is one of the best if not the best, notchless, hunchless.

This is the Xperia phone I can recommend since the Xperia Z2 that I had in 2014.

This is phone is phenomenal. Sony is on the right track with this phone.

Honestly I think this phone represents diminishing returns

The 4k display isn't even as color accurate as the Poco X2 / redmi k30 the delta E is twice as high .. don't believe read both reviews

Cameras are decent but nothing that destroys the competition..

Except the granular controls thats great especially for more experienced photographers
.
But phones for 1000 and beyond are just not worth it in my opinion

This device doesn't seem a retail one, may be a demo product of sorts. why review the device when the device isn't optimised as said in the battery test column.

karthik skr, 30 May 2020imo 4k60p is something that's good if present and not a deal breaker if absent. the main reaso... moreGood thing is Cinema Pro app has beefed up the bitrate across the board on all available resolutions. IMHO filming 60fps in FHD or 4K on any phone on the market today is garbage, it's unnecessary, you do get smooth motion but you don't get anything else in return. You actually loose detail and quality because sensors can't handle it. iPhone does it the best but they are cheating as they interpolate frames once. But people are obsessed with numbers hence 60fps is somehow magically better than 30 or 25 right.

Even Apple with all their money pales in comparison to OnePlus when it comes to buying all the reviewers right?

Must be the biggest conspiracy in smartphone history.
I bet OnePlus also pays their users for writing good things about their displays.

We have to do something about this all round attack against victim Sony that has gotten them lackluster ratings for their display simply coz of the OnePlus tyrannical powers over tech reviewers.

Shui8, 30 May 2020To me it seems like half-baked review. All major features on it seems to be left out, which sh... moreI agree. This article itself does a decent at exploring its camera setup but GSMArena needs to do a separate review on Photography Pro and Cinema Pro apps and fully test out their features. It's time for them to carry out full fledged camera comparison as well, including moving objects, extreme dynamic range, very challenging fine patterns and so on.

Anonymous, 30 May 2020If facts offend you that's your problem. You'll change your tune when Xperia gives you 40W an... moreso you assume anyone commenting in this post is a sony fanboy trying to sell this phone. this phone is absolute stupidity for a 1200$ price tag. because at this point its main competitor is iphone 11 pro max and as much as i hate that phone at that price, iphone is much better buy than this phone cause sony suck at updates and software support atleast when it comes to their smartphone. this phone would've been a good competition if it was launched in 800 to 900$ range.

ironically "the graoes will be sour for you suits you better" suits you better. a lot of people don't know a lot about fast charging. a 40w fast charging will cause the battery to heat and that will reduce the battery span. and thats a fact, it doesn't matter if its from oneplus or apple, atleast as long as we use this outdated li-ion or li-po battery.

if you want to use the fast charging without damaging the battery, then remove the back case of the phone while charging because the case always traps the heat inside the phone. avoid any silicone case that comes with the phone. buy a spare 10w charger and use it when you don't need to use fast charger or when you're charging during night time.

Android Master, 29 May 2020Oppo has true 10bit display. Xperia is garbage. It simply struggles to output brighter images... moreAll reviewers are endorsed by OnePlus and in order to keep the endorsements they have to talk about specific stuff BBKE tells them to in their giant handbook.

I'm glad you are OP fan its a good phone but you have zero clue about how display works. You can't put brightness and color accuracy in the same sentence, Display is either color accurate or bright and vivid. If you want your OP to be color accurate then it also tops out at 400 nits. If you want to talk about delta then Xperia 1 still has lower delta than OP8/X2P at 0.71 at 318 nits but that is not visible by the naked eye. Everything at 1.2 or below is not distinguishable. Also Xperia 1 has class leading backlight uniformity and OP8/X2P don't and will never have due to round display edges.

And in the case you want to see how 90Hz gimmick works please have fun

Anonymous, 30 May 2020It has the Dynamic Vibration System. Haters dictionary *Gimmick = something brought to... more"The Xperia 1 II has that Dynamic vibration system feature that's meant to enhance the perception of bass by actuating the vibration motor in tune with the sound output. Much like on previous instances, we didn't feel like it added much to the experience - you just don't experience sound with your fingertips. If anything, it's more irritating than pleasant."

According to your logic, Gsmarena must be a hater too right?

Nick Tagataka, 30 May 2020"they do 8bit + FRC to give you the perception of 10bit" Prove it.if they actually claimed that their phones have true 10 bit colour dept, then proving is justifiable because our smartphone processor haven't achieved that processing power yet. but this is common sense. screen this small doesn't need a true 10 bit colour reproduction. because you can't actually percieve the colour gradiation in such a small display. so going for a FRC display makes much more sense and it doesn't strain your cpu. besides its very expensive technology too. if they used actual 10 bit display panels then the phone price will sky rocket to above 2000$.
