If you are considering the A51 then it has a 6.5 inch screen in the same space as the Sony which only has a 6 inch screen. Yes its got a punch hole camera but that's the least irritating option to a large notch.
Anonymous, 14 Jun 2020such an uneducated retort. how can a mid ranger be expected to turn things around. Ok then educate me. What do you think will help Sony make a turnaround ? Flagships that few people buy? Or maybe an entry level phone that lots of people could buy but has limited margins for a company ? Or maybe a midranger which allows good margins and can afford substantial sales. Samsung has done a phenomenal job with its mid range phones which has allowed it to compete in a market like India which demands cheap phone and where Chinese phones rule the roost. But yet Samsung has a substantial market share as it has a good amount of midrange phones. That's what Sony needs. I don't see any hope for Sony sustaining itself in the long run if it continues to launch phones like this.

Cheap for sony quality, i still have working z ultra and c3. Was expensive but working fine until now, on contrast with $400 oppo hard survive over a year, never droped, lcd just failed
Anonymous, 13 Jun 2020What's wrong with it? Read the review. Its a bit too expensive for the features on offer. Do you want to bet that this will be another flop for Sony or do you feel its such a compelling option that it will revive the Sony brand and sell in decent numbers?
sterijuanna, 13 Jun 2020such a shame. I had high hopes for this device What's wrong with it?
Same old story. Low battery smartphones with old Snapdragon processor that are not at all in demand. Sony can do better.

pank, 11 Jun 2020I am still wondering why sony doesn't opt for the bezel-less display, which has been a trend f... moreI'm glad that they don't. There aren't many notchless phones going at this price, it helps Sony to stand out. The screen-to-body ratio is honestly pretty good, I have the phone in front of me and you barely notice it, quite a lot like the Galaxy S9.

Even Europe doesn't get the choice of Exynos or Snapdragon.
Any other example of different hardware that really makes a huge difference?
Besides this has nothing to do with the market but for that Qualcomm deal with Samsung.
Had it not been for that deal, Samsung would be shipping Exynos all round the globe including US.

For example Samsung phones there sell with Exynos chipsets while in North America we get Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets in Samsungs.
pank, 11 Jun 2020I am still wondering why sony doesn't opt for the bezel-less display, which has been a trend f... moreThey do that because Sony doesn't want any notches or cutouts for the cameras or sensors on its screens. And bless them for it.
I am still wondering why sony doesn't opt for the bezel-less display, which has been a trend for years now. The same thing goes for its flagship offering too.
Anonymous, 10 Jun 2020Your country is absolutely irrelevant in Sony discussion because a) Sony is not even available... moreIndia is the biggest market for smartphones.
Every brand from American to Chinese to Korean, etc is available here.
Rest of the world doesn't get so many choices.
It's clear, your country is irrelevant as far as smartphones are concerned since buying SD665 At 350-400$ is considered as a good deal.
Sony as a company is isolated to sell in less number of countries.
RishiGuru, 10 Jun 2020Sony is selling phones with fat profit margins. Sony is not able to play in volumes, they sell... moreSame thing for USA, only Apple and Samsung as choices.
The odd pixel 3a which ppl buy for 400-500$.
Rest of the brands have negligible presence.
I'm an Xperia fan before but but that's when Sony still has Ericsson and ever since the split and until now it seems that Sony still continue to go down and still is solid with their impractical pricepoint. Offerring an SD665 on this phone at its current price makes this phone DOA in SEA region.
Anonymous, 10 Jun 2020Maybe in your country.
Read my whole comment again.
In my country it cost between 350-400$.
... moreYour country is absolutely irrelevant in Sony discussion because a) Sony is not even available in your country b) Phones NOT manufactured in your country cost arm and a leg in your country c) Your country is isolated market not comparable or relevant to any other markets especially those free/low tariff markets where Asus Zenfone still costs $600 (if you can still find one)
Or you can always try ebay
