The OnePlus 8 is almost the same size, has a bigger battery and an aluminum frame instead of plastic, in other words the Nord should weigh less.
Also you mention that the OnePlus 7 series have a software proximity sensor, while the 8 series and the Nord have a hardware proximity sensor. How can you verify if it's either a software or hardware proximity sensor? When I look through another phone it's camera I clearly see the proximity sensor flashing red on my 7T. I assume that's a physical sensor.
Furthermore you point out that the new clocks were also added to the 8 series with a software update, does that include the Text clock?

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2020S10lite's front facing camera does record 4k and its 32 mp so nord can also record i think..!!!All the cameras on an iphone and on Samsung's flagships can record 4k. 12mp sony a7s records 4k. But it's the frame rate discrepancy that bothers me. 4k/30p with main shooter and 4k/60p with selfie camera. Vlogging phone??

The fact that so many reviewers thought that is was metal means that's its most likely very high quality plastic. There are benefits to having plastic frame over metal as well.
