AnonD-59899, 23 Jul 2020Thanks a lot for responding! The ROG Phone 2 display starts turning reddish when you are at ~3... moreThere is a bit of a tint along the edges that seems to creep in at around 35%. However, it is very minor and only appears at very few brightness settings below 35%. Honestly, if i wasn't looking for it, I wouldn't notice and I tend to be really particular about display issues like bleed, uniformity and DSE. Most OLED panels tend to struggle in one way or another at very low and very high brightness. I really wouldn't worry about what I am seeing on the review unit. Beyond that, if you are really picky, you just have to hope that the sillicon lottery is kind to you :)

AnonD-59899, 23 Jul 2020Thanks a lot for responding! The ROG Phone 2 display starts turning reddish when you are at ~3... moreWell, ROG 2 real half brightness is at 70-80%.
This is what Gsmarena found while measuring the nits on the screen.
At 85% it is 200/480. So, 10-30% is really dim for the 120hz screen.
I don't know what nits is 30% but I'm sure it's below the real 30% nits.
Just put it on auto and the problem is gone.

Similar tint issues found on S20 ultra, OnePlus 8 pro, IPhone 11 pro Max.

That was an intensive review which pretty much covered all aspects of the phone. I had an extremely fun time reading it. Thanks GSMarena. That was a great job.

This is a great phone. Too bad I'm not a gamer and it looks too ostentatious for an everyday phone.

hmmm... xperia 1 ii can also be an option even for gaming... ip68, audio jack, with similarly high number of colors at 1B, perhaps it comes to high refresh rate vs high resolution in terms of display...
but this ones the only consideration for those who have the rog phone accessories... that xperia 1 ii doesnt need (ps controller is a good addition though)

No need for 3.5 mm port that eats space intended for other important features. No need for optical zooming when it only works well with tripods or super steady hands, optical zooming is a gimick on phones, 2x optical zooming is enough. What's important is that most people dont see the importance of is ufs 3.1 on an sd 865, dual quality front speakers, customizable charging. So skeptics better get a different phone and make this rog 3 anti mainstream to give it exclusivity. Im getting it, so dont get it, get a legion duel instead.

Hard to think what games will suit the ROG Phone best at 144fps (looking at the gaming section). Aside from the late software updates and (slightly) build reliability, it's a pretty good phone.

I might just save my money and pick up a phone like the Poco F2 Pro. Yes, the display's only 60Hz, but that phone is already gaming capable and won't dissapoint at all.

Let's face the truth: Who really needs a Gaming phone?
You get shitty android games and with Stadia or xCloud a phone of 200$ is enough.
You better get a nintendo switch and a midrange smartphone lol
