I wonder if the Exynos processor in the smartphone would work well enough as the smartphones seem to have so much issues.

Galaxy Watch 3 is a copy of Active 2. End of story.
Once the active 2 receives the update of Tizen 5.5 it's all the same.

I own an Active 2 and I use it daily for about 1 year. I have to say I am not impressed at all.
It happen a doesn times to tell me I reached my goals while watching TV or using the laptop. Promised ECG feature still missing and will be missing for the foreseeable future, probably for Watch 3 as well. Missing compass makes it useless for hiking and orientation. Round form is sleek and different from Apple's but a very poor choice to display digital content. 4GB is almost equal to zero considering the OS uses most of this space. With Watch 3 being almost a copy, I cannot say I would recommend it. Unfortunately with all its downsides the Apple Watch is the only decent smart watch in the market for a while now and the only competition it gets is from the fact that it doesnt pair with Android devices.

Leather band? Why, because Samsung thinks that it adds class, kind of like advertising "real leather"...?
Leather is bad on a watch to run with, it looks kind of old, and Samsung just lost all the vegans.
Oh, and it's way overpriced. This is Apple territory and this watch is no Apple Watch.

Same internals as Active 2? Just paying higher for the rotating bezel and 4 gb extra memory. No sir i will keep the ACTAIVE 2. Samsung trying to ripoff its customers!

Just looks alone, I don't care for the buttons sticking out the side of the new one, as opposed to the almost flush buttons on the Frontier. Unless they refresh the Frontier to look more like what it is now, I'll pass and just stick a new battery in it, when needed.

Why not compare such watch to Garmin Venu for example, some Fitbit watches, etc?

I have an Watch Active; by far the most useful gadget i've had for years, worth every euro i've spent. Track HR while training and the whole day, recording of training sessions for comparison and analysis, track sleep quality, smartphone notifications . It's a work in progress but the potential is huge, much more than the smartphone itself.
Thanks for the review, much more interesting than any smartphone review.

What is the point of trying to put phone features in device that you know will fail to use properly when in the same time you already have device that do most of it?
Watch should be companion not main device. It should help you do basic stuff without taking out phone from pocket, Its like trying to drive two cars in the same time... useless...

I waited to see what the GW3 would be like, but it's using the same sensors for HR as the Active 2 and they seem pretty inaccurate, on par with the Chinese brands. I need decent sensors for HR and GPS tracking and would have bought an Apple Watch 5, but the battery time is poor and the sleep tracking is still basic. So I just bought a Garmin Venu and I couldn't be happier.
