If anything the solution for the issue you're having right now is a typical "Just turn off AI".
AnonD-754814, 07 Sep 2020Actually there is a catch here. These are truly 108MP/48MP sensors. But they're made to ... moreI can't speak of all sensors, the ones in question are GM1, GW1, HM1, and GN1 in particular. Let's just say that if there is a way to remove the color filter array and implement these as B&W sensors, then sure, the resulting B&W images would have exactly the resolution of the sensor.

These are truly 108MP/48MP sensors. But they're made to use at 1/4 times.
That means 108MP as 27 and 48MP as 12MP.
A manufacturer takes/processes photo differently doesn't make the sensor pixel count go lower.
All sensors aren't RGB and All sensors aren't regular bayer either.

And it's not merely theoretical, in the reviews they say that the "full resolution" mode pics look ike upscaled images, because in fact they are.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2020too expensive... :(It's expensive like others.
Bittersweet, 06 Sep 2020The phone of the year. The best phone i can not have.Hah, yes.

What does even that mean ?
All are accurate pixel count. I mean there will be some dead pixel. But It's how it is. You can't help it.

iPhone's 11 pro's score is worse than Samsung. It's een worse than last years iPhone.

I said, Samsung made it for Vivo's custom choice. Samsung has historically never made a sensor alone to let it use only by other brands.
Vivo wanted this type sensor and Samsung made it for them.

This instantly tells me you did not look at the sample photos after all. They are not the same at all, in fact Mi 10 Ultra processes images far more leniently than Mi 10 that tends to oversharpen and apply aggressive denoise filter to smooth out grains. Per-pixel detail level is clearly superiour on Ultra, end of story.
And don't even bring iPhones into this discussion. While their medium-low light performance is commendable given its small sensor size, they apply too much clarity boost and sharpening during the day which make natural objects like leaves and trees look very hard and unnatural.
