On top of that when it comes out of protection mode after "cooling" it doesn't reset the display brightness...

Nice review! Only some doubts about the IP68 ratting . I had water in my phone, and ONEPLUS tolled my by mail that the phone is completely NOT WATERPROOF and the phone can not be submerged in water, even not for 1 second. So forget about IP68. This rating doesn't mean anything for ONEPLUS.

Spot on about the curved screen. I had a Oneplus 7 PRO and hated the curved screen so much that I sold it and purchased a Oneplus 7T because the latter has a Flat screen. Perhaps one day phone manufacturers will ask people what they want instead of telling people what they want.

SadSoul, 07 Sep 20208T Pro supposedly got cancelled and only 8T will be released as per latest reports. Sad.Don't think it was really canceled as they stated on the release of the 8pro that they would not release an 8t pro version this year

Hated the display on this phone, stupid over-curved edges looked green all the time.
Add to that the still poor cameras, size, weight and the fact it went in to protection mode for overheating in anything above 25 degrees ambient and it's a hard pass.

The upcoming Android 11 update is an ugly mess too...

Unfortunately below are observed with 8 Pro ::
1) Stereo speakers not actually clear stereo speakers like Galaxy Note 10+ where you see clear sound seperated.

2) Portrait mode is now degraded... weird skin tone in sun light

Excellent job on calling out curved displays. The sides of a phone should be well, sides of the phone not a continuation of the display.

The 8tpro should get the 64mpx sensor and the 65watt fast charging. And I really hope for a bigger battery (that's also the main reason why I want to sell my 7pro)

I'm also still unhappy with the lack of headphone jacks. You may not need them daily, but when you go on a drive somewhere and the Bluetooth isn't working then you're glad to have them for music. I'm holding on to my OnePlus 3 until they will make flagships without these concessions again.

In my place initial 4G rollout and subsequent LTE, VoLTE was slowly made available through carriers and mobiles claimed tit is working. The locality you live (Home location) may not be covered and typically without your mobile registering in your nearest point (Home address) FIRST the device - network combination may not allow you to use 5G even if the coverage is available in other localities

n78 is the band and is supported from the beginning. Sim is 5G, 5G is live. Either way, people need to be very careful before buying anything from these guys. That's my point.

5G:n1, n3, n7, n28, n78
(Note:Actual network and frequency band usage depends on local operator deployment. n1,n3,n7,n28 will be supported later through upgrades)

They dont need to be bringing out the "T" varient anymore. The phones are no longer cheap so most people who get one would prefer to get at least a year or two out of it before it is superseded. Plus, all they can really change on both versions of the Oneplus 8 series is faster charging and better cameras. ATM i dont know if that enough for anyone with the 8 series devices to upgrade to the t version. I guess people with older devices will have another option but they should wait and just bring out the Oneplus 9. In another year there will be underscreen selfie cameras, better fingerprint readers and maybe better cameras. You dont really want to change anything with regards to design. Maybe give the people who want a flat screen version an option of a pro with a flat screen

You need to read their agreement before signing the device. It must be there. They clearly mention which provider, which bandwidth, frequencies supported, also carriers need to be ready. You may need to use 5G SIM as well. For LTE/4G in our place we had to do that.
