Nik C, 12 Sep 2020Anandtech recently published a piece about the adaptive refresh rate on the note 20 and found ... moreThank you for the valuable input! The ambient light logic clears-up a lot of confusion. It is still not the most elegant or easy to grasp system, but that is a different conversation. As for the battery life numbers, we double-checked (actually triple, at this point) and, as stated in the review, the first set is done at a fixed 120Hz refresh rate, while the second at a fixed 60Hz. Those numbers stand and are verified.
However, we reemphasize that real-world use, with a mix of adaptive mode (working correctly), 60Hz mode, perhaps the special 48Hz limiter for games and use of the cover display for some tasks, you are likely to end up with an actual endurance number somewhere between the three we published.
This sentence from the review says it all
"One could argue that the Z Fold2 is easily the most mature foldable out of all of these novice devices."
Samsung HAVE the best foldable without a doubt hardware wise and thats not including all the software enhacnements they doing
"The other large foldable on the market - the Huawei Mate Xs - is by no means a better option. It also costs as much as the Galaxy Z Fold2 launch price so we would still recommend the latter. "
For the UK the Mate Xs is more than the Fold 2 even though it was released 1 year before so its a no-brainer ;)
Well done Samsung you have smashed it you are the front runner in foldables no contest.
I loved it. Though the price is a big ouch maybe I'm gonna wait for a discount 🐱
best phone ever, but price is stellar
Android.Master, 12 Sep 2020Wow.. Samsung seems to have mastered the foldable in its 2nd generation itself.
What a great ... morelol, these android boys are so funny...
Talk about apple "inferiority" in an article with nothing to do with iPhone.
Nik C, 12 Sep 2020Anandtech recently published a piece about the adaptive refresh rate on the note 20 and found ... moreOh, wow! Right on the money! It appears the Adaptive refresh rate indeed takes the ambient brightness into consideration and only works in relatively bright conditions. We would investigate this further and update the review where necessary.
AnonD-546724, 11 Sep 2020Whether you like it or not, that's the only innovative phone samsung released this year. Z Flip was released this year too.
Anandtech recently published a piece about the adaptive refresh rate on the note 20 and found it only triggers on if ambient lighting is above a minimum level of brightness. If the lab lighting was too low possibly it wasn't activating. If this is the case can the battery life tests be re-ran?
Z Fold 2 is a major upgrade from original Fold and who in the world takes portrait shots so close to the background anyways portrait is quite lacking and I won't consider no IP a con as its difficult to do on such a device so I think it's forgiveable
Dometalican, 12 Sep 2020That's a lot of cons for an over 4.5 device...i mean, its not any conventional phone so..
Fire the Audio Quality person! Bad knowledge, non standard graph and horrible assessment almost every time!
AnonD-546724, 11 Sep 2020Whether you like it or not, that's the only innovative phone samsung released this year.
If fact, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the only innovative phone that has been released in 2020, iphone 12 pro max considered
The ordinary slabs DO NOT appeal any more
Wow, Samsung have outdone themselves this time. This is an excellent phone. It's understandable that they can't use Exynos because that overheats worse than Snapdragon.
Why can't big companies like Apple and Samsung put cooling inside their phones?
All Chinese Flagships especially Xiaomi are doing that extra to avoid thermal throttling and reducing heat while major companies cheapening out in that department.
Modern chips are powerful and get hot enough that they need be paired with good cooling design.
Emphasis on Cooling shouldn't be restricted to gaming phones. It should be standard on every flagship phone.
A device which costs around 2000$ like the Fold 2 must be equipped with sufficient cooling mechanism in its design.
Wow.. Samsung seems to have mastered the foldable in its 2nd generation itself.
What a great achievement considering the first iteration of this device had to be recalled and re-fixed. Meanwhile Apple still worried which foldable design they should copy.
No wonder Android is the OS of choice on smartphones and just head and shoulders above the competition.
Sarkirssian, 11 Sep 2020 I am poor. I still play Game Gear.I found my old Game gear and it won't switch on :-(
So cool, wish I was rich enough to have one.
AnonD-546724, 11 Sep 2020Whether you like it or not, that's the only innovative phone samsung released this year. Agreed. The only good phone Samsung made this year. Despite its high price.
That's a lot of cons for an over 4.5 device...
Great review, I can't wait to check if you are right about the improved build quality when I will get mine tomorrow!
