Great review. But why are the actual specs for the LiDAR scanner missing ie range, resolution etc?
I am curious how the LiDAR scanner on the iPhone 12 vs iPad Pro compare.

If they really cared about the environment they would stop changing the connections so you have to keep buying new cords, chargers, wireless chargers, earphones that can only be used with the Apple connector etc.

This is my 4th iPhone purchase. Previous to this I have had the 4s; 6 Plus and 8 Plus. I was very excited after my research to purchase the 12 Pro Max as my upgrade from the 8 Plus. I value a large screen and a great camera.
My complaints may seem small to a billion dollar corporation like Apple but as a hard working person with limited financial means I am dissatisfied with the quality of this phone.
I expected the screen to be better than the previous models. 400x better in fact. Within 3 days of in home gentle use there was a deep scratch on the screen. It was only in my hand or on a table. Never in a bag or pocket or dropped. I was shocked. None of my other phones have a scratch after years of use.
Apple suggested that I should have put a screen protector on it. There goes the fingerprint resistant coating as a feature since you can’t use it without a glass on top.
I added the glass on top. Now I have a finger tip that has been shredded by the edge of the glass as you now have to swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to open and close apps and such.
After removing my case to use the mag safe charger ( yes now I know you have to buy a very ugly mag safe case to use with case on) there are many scratches in the stainless steel edge.
These are very obvious design flaws. It’s like the designers have never used the phone at all.
After a $1600 purchase (that is being financed through by he carrier for the next 22 months) these seem like they big design flaws to an item that should still be able to be used as it was intended ( a phone right?) without damaging the device physically.

Correction... “almost” isn’t even accurate. It is not as good. Someone that takes photos will know the importance of zoom both pros and cons because using that feature changes the outcome of the picture drastically, especially when printed. A 5x periscope with 10x zoom is poor quality zooming. Not just relevant for phones but professional cameras, Zoom option is not only a necessary feature but optical zoom is critical for the quality of any picture. Zooming in isn’t ideal unless it’s used very little, it actually ruins the quality of the image. Which is the 10x zoom you refer to. Optical zoom with great quality telescope lens or telescope lens features with optical zooming (cell phones) offers great quality photos. Anything else ruins the picture. A very little manual zoom with that won’t make a huge difference but 10x is a joke. I’d get into the reasons and the importance of pixels and then the importance of pixel quality pending the telescope lens and type of zooming but enough has been said. Apple iPhone 12 pro max is ALMOST comparable to a professional level camera. A basic digital camera provides average quality pictures, it usually has 5x with the option of manually zooming in but ever notice the more you zoom in manually the quality of the image gets distorted. The pixels and sensors regardless of zoom make the difference, add zoom into the equation and the periscope with the option of 10x manual if used compared to quality lens sensors and optical zoom.... there is absolutely no comparison. Might look great on your phone. Might look semi decent printed in 4x6 photos. Put that same picture next to professional grade option printed 8x10 picture it will speak for itself.
