Would have been interesting to know which charger also does the job for IPads and MacBooks. A tiny multi-charger for phone and MacBook is appreciated when you are on the road...

Tim Cook, 10 Dec 2020Does fast charge decrease battery health?Yes, it does.
The slower you charge, the longer the battery will last.
If you don't need the capacity, the battery should be charged at low wattage between 20 and 80% to best maintain the battery capacity.

[deleted post]I don't like Apple either , but I think best strategy is to not to buy and convince others that there are better alternatives rather than let trained government monkeys run the market. As for article , Apple has significant market share and is infamous for their proprietary solutions so better this article be there rather than millions of people waste money, time and find themselves out what works and what's not.

regarding chargers: I think Apple did give and take here.

          They gave
          1) USB-PD compliant charger.
          2) QI compliant wireless charging

          they take
          1) charger

          extended with their proprietary tech
          1) compliant charger is limited to 7.5 watts.

I'm still not convinced that I should even consider buying something from them. Even iPads! I really don't want to deal any of the Shenanigans they can pull out.

P.S I'm not poor , I paid $700 for my current phone, twice than your SE, fruitboys.

Nice article, thanks GSM arena !
So the end result is that the 12 charge a bit faster than 11, because of smaller battery used.

But the problem with 29W adapter is that higher voltage, could you test a modern MacBook PD charger as well ? (30,61 or 96W should not matter)

Also what about testing the 12 mini and 12 Pro Max ? I heard the mini can charge super fast with 20W and its small battery (40+ in 15 mins). This is not reflected in your review. Would this extend to larger iPhones with higher wattage chargers ?

Had the Lightning port was USB-C instead like the iPad Air 4, it would make life so much easier. It's the main weakness in the iPhone.

kek, 09 Dec 2020You probably jumped over the part where they mentioned the device heats up with that charger. ... moreI did not jump over it and I agree that heat kills batteries. But that's just poor battery management (BMS), has absolutely nothing to do with the charger. A stronger charger will just let the BMS work as designed.

If we agree to the author's conclusion, we're better off using cheap cables, since they drop both voltage and current.

I love how Apple advertise that move as ecological... because what is better than selling charger separately in its OWN package with its OWN plastic and spending additional resources for shipping, packing it and advertise it....

Its remind me when I was visiting one of biggest distributor of fruits in Europe where difference between ecological and normal was different container that moved random fruits to labeling and packaging xD MARKETING AT IT FINEST!

despite some people(uneducated) may belive they will work chargers are not interchangeble between brands and simply third party chargers are with no quality whatsoever,if you own a iphone buy yourself an original charger from apple-iphones charging ics are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations and dies pretty quickly if charger is not genuine or not compatible

Imagine how all those chargers that people will buy now separately will save the environment.
You need to be a m**on, if you think companies like Apple or Samsung are really interested in saving the environment.
I mean yeah, they make some nice public statements, make some public donations for the eyes of the press. But, in the end, they do not care for anything other than their own profit. Period.
