This fun looks nice but it is junk and very slow. Do not buy it. Save your money for the Samsung Omnia.

This is going to be my first smartphone :) I've read on different blogs that a new rom has been released for Europe and apparently it makes the Diamond much faster so I'm not worried anymore.

I agree the UI looks really nice, but the unit I have tried was so slow to make it really unusable ... hope it was a defective one, otherwise they are not going to sell many of these phones.

Juz got this a few days back in SG and here are my comments:

                      Pros for this:
                      - works almost like the iPhone
                      - small, compact, thin
                      - interface quite simple to understand
                      - no bluetooth limitations on sharing files, unlike iphone
                      - onscreen keypad is reactive and quick
                      - cool magnetic stylus
                      - great picture cam quality at 3.2 MP

                      Cons:
                      - Voice call volume at top volume is lousy, definitely needs handsfree set
                      - I use phone callback service and this phone lacks DTMF functions which I sorely need
                      - Pretty slow response time
                      - short battery life.. max 1 day for me
                      - problem w start up/installation disks (only works on older PCs)
                      - picture taking button difficult to press and should have been a single button isolated for this function and not a multi function button which will press wrongly leads to display of other functions
                      - expanding/zoom in function feels weird and not same in btwn user programs (circular motion in pics and double click in browser mode) as compared to iphone
                      - GPS still not working properly... sigh
                      - no external storage capacity??? at 4GB, this will be full in a month for me.. :P
                      - still having problems to connect to laptop via bluetooth instead of cable

                      conclusion:
This is the start of the new generation of pocket pc phones w iphone capabilities... if you can wait, it w get better in time... :)

I have a question, so this phone has WiFi availability so that means we do not necessarily need to subscribe to phone provider's (Tmobile, at& t, etc) internet plan to get online,
we only need a wireless connection to get online, correct?

I've just had the chance to play with the new HTC touch Diamond for the past couple of days.

The phone has a very nice design and a good size.
it's slim and can fit easily in a pocket.
the software is innovative, with complete different interface that has more animations.
the touch experience is not bad, it's very similar to the iphone specially with the soft-keyboard.
the experience with the web browsing is impressive with the zoom function similar to the ipod touch ring.

However, the software is too slow, and mostly not as smooth as it should be.

since i'm a QWERTY adict, i won't go for this phone i'd rather wait for the Touch Pro (Only for the sake of QWERTY Keyboard) hoping to be a bit faster and smoother with the extra RAM (both have the same processor).

I like what I see but want to wait until I get one in my hands and test it a bit. My TyTN II response time si slow compared to other devices.

Sadly, I think this is more an issue with Win Mobile Pro 6.1 than HTC themselves.

Lovely looking phone, looks compact and efficiently laid out. Hope there are no driver issues with the Qualcomm chipsets as there were with the Tytn II. I think the Touch Pro with qwerty KB and sd slot is going to be a winner!!! Some lovely phones out at the moment, decisions decisions...

Wow, this phone looks amazing.. i just worry about the qwerty keyboard on this.. i would rather wait for the Touch pro for the slide out qwerty keyboard and the hot swappable memory card (i think its hot swappable)..
I noticed the slow landscape change.. but when it was switched back to its normal screen, it switched quickly.. Hopefully it was a little bug or something.. This phone looks promising..

Yeah! I concur with rephlex. I do notice the response is somewhat lethargy. (it doesnt take me long to notice this) Anybody else notice on this? On d smudge, it seem that the industry now is plague with this smudge collecting design trend and are complecent about it. Its the latest trend I think. Smudge is in everybody!
