Fact – Two years after the iPhone has showed the world what can be done with a touch screen, Nokia come out with this pathetic phone. Two years difference!! Still Nokia is nowhere compared to the iPhone. Ok, nobody expected that from them. But even Samsung and LG tuch interface is much better than Nokia`s. That is a shame Nokia. Another proof that Nokia is going down!
Oh, and the camera quality? Common, you must be joking… LOL

Does this phone have MSN Live Messenger, or can I install MSN Live Messenger onto this phone or I need to find a third-party IM for this phone? I know there is an IM on this phone which GSMarena already mention on their specification. Can the IM on this phone connect to MSN Live Messenger. I know this is not a Windows Mobile handset but yeah, I just have to know because I'm planning to buy this phone for MYR 1,499/-

I just bought this phone less than a week ago but already very disappointed at the earpiece. During a phone call, when the screen gets pressured, even if it's very lightly pressure, the volume of the earpiece fluctuates A LOT. Then I went google "Nokia 5800 earpiece problem", apparently this phone is infamous for this problem. There is a fix to this problem but you will need to take the risk of damaging the phone for opening it up. Besides, why should one fix a brand new phone? I was very excited with all the positive reviews, and very disappointed to find out about this common defect. Definitely shocked that GSMArena did not point this out.

i love this phone.. except for the fact that the camera sucks (i admit it).. but for the price and it's multimedia function and awesomeness i dun really mind.. i got other phones to take pics with.. :D

anyways, a few weeks ago i changed my 5800 because of faulty earpiece and creaking on the top right side of the phone (next to the camera).. i have to press the creaking part to hear sounds from the earpiece..

now my replaced 5800 has the same prob.. i think nokia needs to settle this prob.. it's a great phone but with this problem.. it ain't gonna help with sales if they persist on not fixing this problem..

They say the music quality is the best they have ever had in a nokia phone.(That information alone is enough for me as I was pretty happy with the excellent quality of the N73)
Web browser has some issues but 3rd party free software usage ensures its not a big problem.
Camera quality is crap for now. But it was the same case with my N73. But after 1 software update the image quality improved drastically. I know because it was what saved us from being totally memoryless during a Tour.

They recommend this phone. Their recommendations are never wrong. Atleast Ive never seen them to be wrong. Whatever issues they had with the phone can and will be improved with a few software updates.

                I want this NOW

i agree with the review that the camera really sucks! pics taken is like 2.0 Mega pix without auto focus

but, i disagree with the review over the loudspeaker quality. It's LOUD! Should be a very good -> excellent mark

                  since it's not a N series, so, don't expect too much :)

I thought this review was a *little* negative, but not much. I have this phone and its OK. I sometimes wish I got the iPhone. But I actually need to use a stylus to write Chinese characters and I don't want to hack my phone in order to add basic stuff.

There are two areas where this review gave, in my opinion, wrong info:

                    1. First about standby screen. The basic standby screen could have been better. On the other hand, it has calendar and music-track title on the screen. That's important for me because I need see what my next appointment is quickly. Also, there is a Media button over the screen that allows quick access to music, pics, and video. I just wish that one linked to "Now Playing". Plus, tapping the clock brings you to the alarm function. Taping the battery area brings you to connectivity. So actually, you have 4 user defined shortcuts + 6 hard-coded shortcuts.

                    2. I disagree with this 100% and most owners have said the opposite: "We also ran our traditional loudspeaker test on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The handset didn't perform too impressively but still scored a Good mark meaning we have seen (and heard) better. You might want to keep a closer look on it when you are in noisier environments." I have NEVER heard a louder loudspeaker on a phone. NEVER. I can use this phone as a boombox. It's crazy.

i read about an 80% of the gsmarena reviews, and they have never been so rude on a phone, it's almost like Steve Jobs wrote it. Still nokia is nokia, and im not a nokia fan, been using SE for the last 3 years!!! thats pretty sad gsmarena!!!!

i got 2 5800 XPressMusic and both had problems with the ear piece, where the volume goes up and down, and it's almost impossible for me to hear from it. All my friends got really frustrated as I couldn't hear them no matter how loud they speak...

i got the n79 instead, i am now a much happier man!!!!!

Having played with the 5800 for a while I think that the review is even too kind on the handset but it might just be a matter of personal opinion I guess.
Still, I am going to stick to my N95 8GB for a while longer.

Why don't Nokia phones charge via usb out of the box? Had a N73 and N95, but now buy SE and Samsung. Not only because of the usb problem, but also the finishing. My N73 and N95's paintwork peeled off so easily and they were NOT cheap phones!
