Ok, yeah, video recording is nothing to brag about...but video playback is fine.
Not supporting DivX/XVid is a non-issue, since it would be kinda' silly to just put the video you downloaded for your telly on the phone without transcoding to the much more effective H.264 format.
It not supporting high end formats is simply not true: it supports H.264 baseline profile 1.3 (that you can pack in MPEG4, or maybe even 3GP container), which is excellent!
(main profile is a bit too much to ask for, to computationally intensive, but not really needed for QVGA resolution either).
Ouh my God, it is so beautiful I cant get enough of it. Sure, it makes better pictures then my LG Ku990 Vievty :D:D It is quite awesome device, and i think I am fell in love. Pozdrav
sale987, 08 Mar 2009GSM Arena do you really know whats for MEDIA GO on this phone. Will you were harry to much wit... moreI read that article about MediaGO
Actually it make sense, why do you need to install all these codecs on your phone, when you can easily convert it?
I had such a hard to doing trial+error trying to convert videos to avis with free aps. SE optimized software will save loads of time and fustration
Page 5 of the review, quote:
"adding up to one of the industry best quality audio outputs to date"
That's what it's all about. I am soo getting this phone!
after all those years after K800i vs N73, W995 and N86 8MP.. we're back where we started.
GSM Arena do you really know whats for MEDIA GO on this phone. Will you were harry to much with this review, and forgot to say a lot of good things for this phone. BTW READ THIS CAREFULL: WHen u transfering any video format on your phone (doesnt matter which DIvX,AVI..) the "MEDIA&GO" automaticly CONVERT it in compatible format for phone (MP4. BTW you can read this page for a bit.. http://blog.se-nse.net/media-go™-hands-on/
Sorry for bad english!
I love this phone. Sure it has some downsides but why do you really need dvix ro such if 99.8% of all torrented movies are avi and play dvd quality like anyway? The smartphone thing whatever i never liked such a thing and well this phone is almost touching perfection. I mean if the build quality xept the stand is excellent imagine how so it would be in the final product. And no i dont think that this will get ruined like the C905 as well i think they rushed it.
Wow the average video recording capabilities of this phone made me think even more that SE may be releasing a Handycam range of phones.....
Ok, I relly like this phone. First of all, it is so beautiful, I can not beleive that SE made something so adorable. As I have noticed, W995 lacks: Better video recording, codec support and smart UI. Compared to N86, it is much more pretty and fancy. I even think that SE camera (regular, not Ciber-shot) can be compared with Nokias. But of course, not video recordings. And it have all one could wish..And best of all, it is fluid, no bugging and lots of animations. There is enough applications to install if something is missing, so it doesnt need to be smart for that. For me, this is some piece of device. Sony ericsson made me in love, even though I have a girlfriend. Please respond, I am keen in buying this baby :D :D and sure it will be 20%-30% cheaper than N86.
OMG! the review states its only for vodafone uk? because of the vodafone find and go!?
Whens the release?
what's wrong with you sony ericsson? still can't produce a phone with VGA or higher video recording?
The lack of codec support is not a big deal as long as MediaGO can transcode any video file of any format to one that is playable on the phone.
Also, not everyone likes a smartphone. An appealing, fast and fluid UI is more welcome to users like me than the "possibility" to install some apps (that most users won't bother to).
Lastly, I have a question: which headset was your test unit supplied with? Was it an HPM 77 or the newer, noise canceling ones?

I've read thru the review again.... Can't find any extra info on MediaGO or Walkman 4.0
Would GSM Arena be so kind to update us on review of the MediaGo sync for w995? And also, whats actually new in walkman 4.0, besides the skinning support?
JaCoB...,Kuwait, 07 Mar 2009u sure will cuz w995 comes with the mediaGo that can convert videos and audios to alot of thin... moreoooh! That could save alot of hair pulling xD
The trouble I've went thru to convert videos into AVI files for Viewty, but none of them working due to aspect ratio, codec errors, poor audio syncing, or over-compression.
MediaGO sounds awesome
