My husband and I both bought the Omnia II and both phones have been horrible since the first 2 weeks of having them. The camera is crap the pictures are out of focus. You can take a picture and then good luck finding it. The screen freezes up, you can put contacts in and try to look them up and there not in the phone book. We try sending text messages and select a contact to send it to and not even 1/2 of the regular contacts are in the phone book (this is every time)????? My husband and I have taken the phones in to Verizon and they tried giving us a refurbished phone and we decided to turn on our "old phones" instead of taking this piece of crap again.

grrrr, 16 Nov 2010this phone looks great and everything but i regret buying this phone. got so many problems wit... moreAll your problems can be solved :). Trust me, if you would've bought any other expensive device, you would have other problems. With a custom rom, you will get a brand new omnia. fast, stable, impressive memory specs, improved drivers. just google modaco i8000.
Just look around to see what other devices owner write about similar gadgets(htc, apple etc.). There is no perfect device my friend. What seems to be perfect on the marketing strategy, it may be a big failure on real terms. I have my o2 since june, very happy with it. I bought it with stock rom, but i change it. now i won't leave it for a looong period. i just love it :P.

                Terrible Phone.

I bought a phone and in abot 3-4months i lost 16GB memory and Samsung does not offer International Warranty so i have to send to the original country from where i bought this phone. To get it repaired or pay $120/= to fix it in Canada. I would not recommend this phone any one to buy.

                  Terrible phone.

Maybe I'm just unlucky getting a glitchy one, but seriously - keyboard is unresponsive (it actually died completely after 7-8 months), screen looks perfect in dark enviroments but you cannot see anything even on mild sunlight (my old nokia 3210 beats omnia 2 by a good margin in these conditions). There's lot of lag even immediately after soft reset (phone came laggy right from the start).

All in all, I'd rate it as 1/5, yes - it has some really great features, but if everyhing is glitchy and laggy - well then those doesn't really matter.

                  Don't buy this phone!

Mohammad, 20 Sep 20101st impression, phone is working gr8, till now the downs i notice in it are: 1)sometimes the ... more
                    1. The display is great, one of the best on the market. The so called 65k colour limitation it's just a BS. The human eye can't tell the difference.
                    2. The camera is great, but needs a litle adjustement in the settings. Then you won't get unfocused pictures. Changing the rom also provided me with some modified camera drivers that improved the quality.
                    3. The default gps app is google maps(which really sucks :)) ). there are many gps apps around, and they work very well : i personally use igo8(best app for Romania), but it's working with garmin, tom tom, northstar etc. in fact it's working with ALL gps software. All you need to do is to add some lines in the sys.ini regarding the resolution. The gps lock is fast(i think). It takes about 30 seconds to find the sattelites and get a lock(with extra enabled).
                    4. The memory issue i spoken before. Due to it's wvga resolution, compared to omnia 1, i8000 sucks at first sight. It requires more ram for itself, BUT : i get to play high quality videos(up to 2mbps bitrate with a litle overclocking of the cpu). The normal divx, avi , mpeg formats are running smooth, with a third party application(like TCPMP, divxplayer etc)
                    5. About the apps, someone said all the nice apps cost. REALLY? What about the iphone? the device that is really useless straight out of the box? you can't even send/receive items on bluetooth. all you need to do is search the net and you will find all the apps you need, or use the application market. there are alot of free apps there.
                    6. CPU. Default is 814 Mhz. There are 3 profiles to use : low(the frequency drops to 624/667 mhz, even lower), auto (800/814 mhz) and power(the frequency increases up to 866+). With a litle program i've managed to keep it steady on 960 Mhz. Highest freq was 1ghz, but not stable. Not to mention the battery drain. I use OC mode only when it's plugged to a power source :).
All i can say i really love this device. Fast, responsive, great camera, fast gps, it's more than ok. And with a litle tuning and tweaking it's beating the iphone 3g/3gs by far. Even by default, out of the box, omnia 2 has more options than the aplle competition.

1st impression, phone is working gr8, till now the downs i notice in it are:
1)sometimes the phone crashes by itself, dont know why even there is no big applications installed
2)typing by fingers is not that gr8, i find this better using other phones
3)most nice applications are not free and cost some money
4)Didnt find any nice gps application to be installed and work properly
5)Dailing and finding those contact u dailed is not that easy, much easier on other phone
Rest seem fine, however i expect more from this phone especially with such properties...

                        I bought this phone.
Camera is very bad. Pictures are out of focus!
GPS reception is bad as well.
There are mods in the internet but all they do is switch between:
                        1. Better lock time with very inaccurate position
                        2. More accurate but slow and very unstable gps lock

I would NOT recommend this phone in any way.
It's a shame that Samsung has produced such a luxurious phone
with such bad hardware in GPS and Camera.

                                dear reviewer:
can you help on this one, i am new to this forum and i am a previous owner of an omnia 1 with WM 6.1 and just purchased omnia 2 with WM 6.5. i have so far 2 problems with entering text that were not present in my previous omnia. First, when i press the spacebar to enter a word, a space is not added automatically after the chosen word, therefore i have to press the spacebar again to start typing a new word. Second, my xt9 does not automatically add new words (likes names and places) to the built in dictionary, so when i type them again they dont appear in the words list. i used to like those features on my first omnia and i dont know why they are gone. Any help is appreciated.

does the messaging offers the typical way of texting like using the alphanumeric keypad? it seems that it only offers qwerty keypad even when it is on portrait mode?
