personally they look naff. why spend all that money on a phone. just because its 24 carat gold and got diamonds. they are basic. may as well do 24 carat gold Nokia 3210. and charge £100,000 still the same idea. now it had the technolgy of say a Samsung Pixon 8920 or W880. yeah i might just justify the price tag. but all in all. its a basic crap phone with diamonds boring. dont see the point.
One more to complete my collection
Thx a lot GSMarena...think that's the first time I've read a review on these phones; but not that it changes my mind (or my financial status) in any way.
Call me jealous, but if I ever see anyone with a vertu in hand, I have a good mind to bump into him to see the expression of the guy's face as $150,000 drops to the ashalt - that alone should be worth a million dollars. :)
Anonymous, 01 Oct 2009I think these kind of phones are just radiculous and way over rated. Why would you really want... moreIt's just an expensive way of expressing yourself. As long as you the person using one can afford it, it's not at all stupid.
I have a Vertu Ascent and I LOVE IT! I'm using it for 3 years now and it still works like the day I got it. You pay for the quality of these phones. Vertu's are spartan compared to other $100 phones but at the end of the day, a Vertu is a Vertu.
yeah! super review!
6 thumbs up!!!!
What a review, thanx GSMArena!
the rich don't buy these phones for their function. they just use these as an accessory, like a jewelry, for use in social events...say, to call the chauffeur when it's time to go. you can't use your diamond necklace to do that, can you?
Noir, 01 Oct 2009You know, the author of this article brought up a really good point, but think it may have bee... more@Noir - And another way of looking at it is that these are indeed like Ferraris and compared to a regular car with sat navs and all the space age gadgets, a Ferrari seems lacking, but you'd still rather have a Ferrari if you could.
Besides, the super rich don't have just one phone. They'll have their iPhones and so on too. The bling is brought out to be seen with to make it onto the cover of luxury fashion mags and the like.
"No matter of black or white, untill cat coughts a mice!"
These handsets are 99% show off and 1% working.
But we dont neet to cry. If people on this planet can buy Rs 6 cr. Bently, then we cant enforce them to not to use same English "Wealthphone".
By the way, for me worth is more important than a showoff. So I m happy with my Nseries.
You know, the author of this article brought up a really good point, but think it may have been misstated:
"Now the question that needs to be asked is this: won't a Vertu user feel robbed when a 100 buck handset does tricks that their high-priced handset can't? It's kinda like driving your Ferrari on the highway only to find out that every other sedan out there can go faster than you."
I feel that's inaccurate. I feel that these phones are like tricked out Civics, all looks and no go. You give a cheap car an expensive custom paint job and all the flare and stero and what not in the world, its still gonna drive like a cheap car. Same situation here, you give a cheap phone an expensive gold and diamond coat, its still a cheap phone. No matter how much money I have, I'd rather have a cheap lookin phone that does everything, then an expensive lookin phone that doesn't do anything.
fun reading : a lot more enjoyable than many articles here.
to those who just don't get it:
mobile phones function as jewelry. they are fashion accessories. As such there will always be a high end market.
haha I dont even like the design, why on earth should one buy such a phone, except for the diamonds it looks cheap haha
I think these kind of phones are just radiculous and way over rated. Why would you really want one???????????????????????
I'm gonna buy a Signature S this Saturday because of the Concierge service.
A customer bought a Vertu Ferrari into my shop the other day it wouldn't work, he got it in China, it was dodgy as it had an IMEI number from a different phone that was reported stolen five years ago.
I'd buy one of these phone's for one reason...
...because I could, sigh.
Thanks GSMArena for this, yes, this is useless and all, but I dont think I would have the oppurtunity to go window shopping for these. The article made for some very interesting reading. Cheers.
That Tag Heuer looks amazing (Purely going on Looks) Probably the best looking phone Ive ever seen (and Ive seen alot of phones as I work in that sector). Problem is I will never be able to afford one.
