Xperia X10 , 21 Nov 2009Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 all the way. nokia n900 is a big brick with 4 years old 5 mp camera.X10 has a 1.6 years old OS. Get it? (Hint: Android 1.6)
Do you even know why? That's because Google had an exclusive deal with Motorola. Due SE's inability of making their own OS they have ended up with the scraps of the market.
Now, please, stop complaining. The N900 is all about the innovative software. The hardware is good - I agree - but it's only there to provide and enable all the features it has. For example, there is no projector, since Maemo doesn't support it anyway. But it does have a stronghold of a CPU to enable extreme multi-tasking.
On the other side, the CPU isn't clocked at 1GHz - but why should it be? Is there any other phone with better multi-tasking possibilities? This would only lead to a loss of battery. Remember, performance is a combination of hardware AND software - and very few phones deliver on BOTH sides.
Phones can have crappy hardware (see the N97), crappy software (see the X10) or both (see the LG Crystal) - but keep in mind that there actually are SOME crown jewels (a.k.a. exceptions of this rule) as well. N900, N95 and possibly Omnia HD are some of the few examples - while the X10 isn't.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 all the way. nokia n900 is a big brick with 4 years old 5 mp camera.
I would like to see some photos comparing the 5mp camera of N900 and satio... I know that satio is comparing with N97 and N900 maybe with XPERIA cause the OS.... but with these photos you will show clearly the ability of N900 camera...
N900 is just perfect except of its camera... and that cause ericsson produced satio with 12mp... and everyone make this comparison...
I bought Nokia 7610 5 years ago... at the same price as N900 price.(500 euro) It was the second Nokia using Sympian os and was the first 1mp phone...
All these 5 years, watching the sympian phones around i was feeling that my phone was just ok... cause the def... was only at the cpu and camera and when s60 3rd edition comed around i was not able to run some applications...(the newest versions of the app i was using... i have installed 40 app on it)
So 7610 was a great choice...
I dont know if it will be a mistake to buy N900-maemo, cause it's the first device using this better version of maemo in a normal shape but
i hope Nokia keep update the os... and when the maemo 6 will be available let the older models(N900+...) use the new applications after some pathes.
Maemo 5 is great and with the updates NOKIA will make it perfect before produce other device...
I NEED PHONE NOW AND THE NOKIA N900 IS THE BEST AT THIS PERIOD...
I hope it will be as good as 7610 was 5 years ago.
SAM, 21 Nov 2009I have to say , i am deeply Disappointed , I've been waiting for this device for 3 months now ... moreu stupid or what ? how come u waiting this device for 3 months and u dont know about the device Features and now after 3 months of waiting u are Disappointed about it ? go get a life .
I have to say , i am deeply Disappointed , I've been waiting for this device for 3 months now , And they Still Don't want to Put every thing .
The camera Quality Sucks , The landscape mood only Sucks , And The Resistive screen ( needs pushing ) ..
What about the Video( avi and DivX ) Quality ? Is it Good ?
Totally bad phone
nokia again making fool of innocent peoples by giving same thing in new box.........ha......ha........
still some FOOL Peoples are waiting, to be made FOOL AGAIN ha....ha...
NOKIA-- "DISTRACTING PEOPLE "
I'm more worried about the resistive screen...can anyone who gets hold of N900 give an in-depth review of it? I have watched lots of video clips on youtube...and I notice that the screen looks more capacitive rather than resistive. However, GSMArena makes a reviews on the sensitivity of the screen that it needs a slight push (rather than a click) to register a click. If the screen is like the one on HTC HD, it would be suck. I sold it less than 24 hours. I'm serious. I hate WinMo now.
Again, more reviews on the screen sensitivity is needed. I have no worries about the performance or graphic.
Like Android, Maemo app community will come through later. It's just a matter of time.
Anonymous, 21 Nov 2009Flash 9.4 vs flash 10? Any different?Flash Adobe 9.4 or just Flash Adobe is commonly with laptops, computers, and Mac. Flash Lite mostly used in mobile phone.
for all lamers claims that n900 is too thick n95 8gb its more thicker than the n900 with 21 mm while the n900 is 18 mm and the n95 is one of the most successful devices made by nokia .
I am sorry. Wrong info.
I mean iPhone sucks because they have same design, no video calls and really bad battery life
NvS, 21 Nov 2009I'm not very interested in nokia's touchscreen or maemo,no matter what they're still far behin... moreWTF you said that N900 still far behind than iPhone. You better think twice before you said that. Can iPhone do multi-tasking at least 25 apps, browsers etc running in the background with no lags? The answer should be 'Perfectly beyond your imagination. NO!!. The N900 can do the multi-tasking with 30 apps or browsers (while still loading in the background) with a very very very very little lags. And the 'brick' size is not true. It's smaller than a brick. iPhone sucks because have a same design and no video calls.
All the pictures in this review are landscape mode I would love to see it in directly mode
I'm not very interested in nokia's touchscreen or maemo,no matter what they're still far behind iPhone & android, but Mozilla firefox..WOOW now that's something,no i won't trade my phone with N900 because it looks like a brick, but that Mozilla thing bothers me,i'm postive it'll be great.
From what I've read, it isn't possible to run Opera Mini (or other Java apps) on the N900 currently. Do you guys know if this will be possible in the future?
I just read that Eldar sad that nokia is stil on debate wich they shal call it N920 are N950, but a non qwery is coming just holding my breath and hope i dont suficate
Zane Chute, 21 Nov 2009THE N920 IS FAKE! Stop waiting for it because someone made it up. German - http://nokiap... moreYeah i know that that one is a fake i forget to post that you don't need to google it cus that one is fake,(Nokia themself said they wil not make phones with a larger screen than 3.5) bigger than that wil be tablets not phones, but i whas talking about alder the guy on mobile-review.com he did a review on Maemo and stated that nokia wil release a non qwerty version of the N900 naming N920 it wil not be a update but a non qwerty version of the N900 and it wil be availible 2010 Q1 look it up
That is probably the only thing this beast is lacking! A giant community of applications developer.

Congratulations for having the device. I'm waiting for mine through Amazon, which will take a longer time (Maybe by the end of December.)
I hope you enjoy your device and have the best of it. I also hope to see more applications coming from the Maemo community. I wish I had enough time to be a learn how to develop my own apps.
Cheers from Canada.
