I just got this phone yesterday. What made me buy this is because of the well written review I read on this site. Before buying this one i was thinking of so many other options. But in the end it all boils down to functionality (the classy/elegant look is just a big plus).

I got the silver one. It feels like I'm holding an Aston Martin in my palm. really cool. There are some few light leaks but nothing to worry about. The qwerty keyboard is really easy to use. The Optical Navi Key on the other hand could be better. Blackberry still wins it with the navigation key. I also like the installed office applications especially the quick office (which by the way can open docx & xlsx documents). The battery life is really great too.

The 5 megapixel camera is ok. nothing really spectacular about it. It's what I expect from nokia phones. They are well contrasted in outdoor shots with really good lighting, but when it comes to night shots & indoor shots (w/o proper lighting) even with the LED flash it still comes out grainy. But it's not a biggie. I didn't buy this phone for the camera feature. Id rather buy a cheap digital camera instead. Its just an add-on feature anyway.

Internet is good & fast, but it could be better if the navi key was more intuitive. The IM feature is really nice too. i downloaded for free in Nokia Ovi the Nimbuzz application and its better than the pre-installed chat application that comes with the phone.

Overall, the phone is a great catch. For the longest time i have been a Nokia hater. But quite frankly, the Nokia E72 really is a good bargain. Its not that expensive considering the loads of features that comes with it. And its always nice to have a great & classy designed phone.

Hi

I was torn between this and the BB9700. Am currently using the G1 and wanted a break from Android and back to a qwerty phone for practical purposes. I really wanted the 9700 but thought no I will look at the E72 and from the specs and review it looks mint and in the hand it seems to work great. Here are a couple of observations:
1. The trackball is not as responsive as the 9700 on which it is just so cool.
2. The E72 DOES NOT synch with googlemail or googles calendars and contacts so anyone thinking of upgrading from the E71 give this some thought. This is all over the nokia support pages and not mentioned in the review a somewhat glaring omission - Come on GSMArena a better evaluation would be useful. A bit of a joke in 2009 surely?
3. The omission of the podcasting app is surely also a step back as this element becomes more not less popular and I enjoy listening whilst working on train to and from work - Again a mistake (However you can download the app from nokia for other e series and try that to see if you can get a workaround?)Similarly with internet radio.
Nokia appears to be trying to make a multi convergence handset for business with real strides towards multimedia etc but at the same time cannot make up their minds what they want to achieve. Will take a little longer to evaluate more models and see if nokia come through with fix for google service synch but if not it's the 9700 I am afraid.

I have just bought this E72 in Bangladesh. This phone feels great as a business phone. The battery life is good. Not as flashy as an iPhone (which I have been using for last 08 months). The optical track pad could have been better.

Hi.
Can you comment on QUALITY of UNASSISTED GPS reception? ie. not using the network to locate GPS position. Is it slow or fast? I will not be using this with any sort of data plan.

Does the E72 have vibrate on connect? Pretty useful feature on some new phones allows you to hold phone in your hand, rather than to the ear, till called person answes when it will vibrate. Decreases unnecessary radiation to the brain!!

Still, the phone did not show up in Jordan (Amman) stores although it's available in Nokia's regional office.
