I think the n900 browser won here but it would be nice to see you guys do similar tests since the launch of opera mobile 10 and opera mini 5. Also with the most recent software updates of the n900, omnia hd, and 5800 xm which have all claimed browser improvements in their latest firmwares.
good job!
Anonymous, 12 Feb 2010This is rubbish really! Let's make phones with the same capabilities to prove correct speed o... moreMobile web broser without download manager and no text reflow functionality ?! Try calculating the time and effort you spend in horizontal scrolling and then compare it to the few seconds you win in the initial loading process ;) I think that Opera 9.7 on HD2 is the ultimate browsing experience when it comes to mobile browsing at the moment. Sorry iPhone people, I just can not see the point of fast loading when no text reflow is available ;)
i think n900 is a clear winner here.but i also like the opera 5 beta, works fine on my g502 extremely fast and accurate using 3g
Ups, by the way, there is new mobile Opera beta3 for nokia and winmos, i have not try jet, but is said to be super fast browser?!
Anonymous, 12 Feb 2010ha ha ha, did i upset someone with my Mr Jobs post. This site is so iPhone biased it's untrueYeah mr.Jobs must have pay this time mr.bandidos instead of mas adwertisings lol!
ha ha ha, did i upset someone with my Mr Jobs post.
This site is so iPhone biased it's untrue
Much appreciated gsmarena!Thank u so much.
I can say maximum is that"I use my all currency of prepaid account for mobile internet without paying a bit currency for calling and sms.
My life spends time wth browsers!
iPhone is such a junk, did they actually bother testing usability or was it more like "oh let's make it look good in synthetic tests only".
Pinch zoom is the most uncomfortable zooming method ever stolen from microsoft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsREy3A8RbI
Well d'uh it was made for large monitors not low-res small screens.
where is opera mobile 10??
I think the tests were good, but the results are flawed for some devices. In particular the Omnia HD (I8910). I have tested this myself in the S60 Browser and it loaded static.html in around 8 seconds over WiFi. Still not perfect but it's certainly better than your outrageous claim of 23 seconds or whatever. Also, the no auto fullscreen thing is a LIE. Mine does this. I bet you made sure the 3G and 3GS had the latest firmware, so why not do this for ALL the devices? Also, it might be a reasonable to test other browsers on the different platforms. Also, you should look at the features of the various browsers. Browsers like S60 Web support YouTube (or it does on the i8910 anyway) directly in the browser, none of this 'You need an app for that' tosh.
Great review, One thing though about Zoom handling.. You guys forgot to mention you can zoom in and out of web pages using the volume rocker on the Nokia N900, A very useful method of zooming I might add that no other phone offers! :D... I love my N900.
xman, 11 Feb 2010I'm curious how LG does with there browser. currently using LG BL40 and find web surfing to b... morebecause i can't fit a 20" monitor in my pocket!
what i miss in this review is the screen resolution.there's a huge difference in browsing the web with a qvga device and a wvga one!
opera mini 5 is the best for me even in beta state!
Skyfire is the best browser!
Skyfire!!!
Seriously, the s60 browser on my OmniaHD is terrible..
But, you should have reviewed Skyfire on s60 or atleast Opera 10 (though its still in the beta phase).. I think that Opera 10 is better the the 3GS browser.. Pretty much the same features..
And if we were to check the load times on skyfire, I can bet on it winning the race..
Anyways, a nice article otherwise..
Keep on bringing more such articles..
Cheers!
s60 browser is the best
manjunath.veeranna, 12 Feb 2010now i understand, why we did not see the review of nexus one even after more than one month of ... morethats because xperia x10 and google nexus share same specs..
One important omission is RIM's browsers, RIM's Blackberry Browser and RIM's Internet Browser. What about them? Specially on Bold & Bold II
it took 28 sec for.opera mini 5 on my nokia 5320 xpress music to load static gsmarena test page over my crappy edge connection
now i understand, why we did not see the review of nexus one even after more than one month of its release.Don't mislead your viewers with your biased reviews. It is not fair to mislead the people who visit this site in hope of finding genuine articles. Remember our money is hard earned one.
And once again i8910 OMNIA HD got the BEST default mobile browser EVER!!!
Not so sure why some of ur finding r incorrect, but in reality it takes about 3sec to load gsmarena on i8910 (that's on wifi thou) - about 5sec on 3g+, which is much better than iPhone 3GS. But why even compare iPhone, since it is now an outdated trash??!
Cheers
