I had to say one thing, this phone is an underdog. If the brand were Nokia or Samsung in place of hTC this page would be full with good comments. This is a fantastic device, one of the best of this year definitely. Every device has it's own glitches, this one is not an exception, and I am sure hTC will definitely fix the issues going on currently, hTC is the NO.1 for keeping their words, it's not Samsung that will say a firmware is coming soon and it will never come. And to all SE fanboy, if you think X10 is better than this, then just buy it, who said to come here and post your bullsh*t comments. So stop nagging and get the hell outta here. and some people who are talking about Desire's camera, Do you even know what is a Camera? Putting a hole behind a cell phone and naming it a BIG 12MP, 8MP doesn't mean anything. It's about FUC*ING lens idiots. I don't know when these stupids will get it.
Thank you very much.
needs a better camera, and i hope they've improved on their quality

Actually I ... moreHey, i too am from Romania, i bought this phone two weeks ago and it works like a charm. It's true i migrated from symbian but i can't imagine WinMo 6.5 being that much of a success to make this phone so different for you. Have you tried different mail clients? I for instance use GMail because it accommodates my needs but i know for sure that there are plenty of email clients that do a much better job than gmail (or htc mail for that matter. this buddy of mine has Nexus one, he loves to tinker with it...saw o lot of stuff on his phone)
Cheers!
I have this phone from 3 weeks now. And I must say that my ex HD2 it's way better. Actually I guess the problem it's not the phone but the software. I cannot choose my location, I'm from Romania and all the apps who use My Location give me wrong or general information not specific on my loco city. The mail client don't allow me to select and mark letters for different operation like (mark as read, unread and ...others that WM have it). I cannot sync may task and notes with Outlook, and many others..no official offline navigation for eastern europe... I'll go back to HD2

Like I said, yes that is true but HTC definitely has no excuse to this because their camera is just completely horrible! Its a HIGH-end phone for gods sake. And who brings their camera everyday? You can't even take your phone out and snap pics of memorable events when you have no real camera. Like seriously, just look at the quality of the photos the desire takes! Completely horrible!! Then there's the pinkish spot on the middle. 15fps is the worst. Looks horrible. And no, 120 mb is definitely not sufficient. Again, this is a HIGH-end phone.
Funny thing is, Desire has 120mb alotted space for app. Whereas the super cheap Samsung Galaxy Spica has 130mb on Eclair.
dee, 19 Apr 2010what a lame review GSM you should be ashamed so a major drawback is no voice dialling????... moreso you use your 400€ phone only as a phone? well that's 450€ well spent :D it's funny how are some people here defending that 100mb internal storage problem... just wait a week or two and then come back here and you will definitely complain too about the tiny apps limit :)
dee, 19 Apr 2010what a lame review GSM you should be ashamed so a major drawback is no voice dialling????... more120mb vs 80gb? Do you know how to do your Math?
what a lame review GSM you should be ashamed
so a major drawback is no voice dialling?????? what a deal breaker, looks like you couldnt find any other fault.
and 120MB left for installation....geez iphones total memory is only 80GB .....
you should be ashamed gsm, i own a desire and i am more than happy with it. so what if i cant play back DIVX, i use my phone as a phone if i want to watch DVDs ill stick it into my DVD player
I hope someone could give me some information if this unit is going to be available in the Middle East? My wife and I are due for an phone upgrade, I've already chosen the Vivaz for her, and for myself, I'm sold on getting HTC Desire. I heard that this unit is already available in Europe and the States. I tried HTC customer service, and they told me that they don't have any information if this will be released in the Middle East. If there's anybody in this site who might know, please?
I have been using this phone for 2 weeks now and I love it. It has everything you need. The touchscreen is amazing, internet superquick, everything is easy to find. Reading peoples opinions makes me laugh, if you want a fantastic camera buy a camera. How many apps do you want to install??? 120MB is more than sufficient for apps that you would need and use. This is an amazing phone, the only thing the Iphone has that this doesn't is the app store. As for GSM's review, I found it all a bit wishy washy and IMO really tried to belittle a device which is fantastic. If you want something that is different and not be a sheep and bow to a fruit, go with this, you will love it!!
Me, 19 Apr 2010AnonymousReport Why do most android phones just have about 500mb ROM thus leaving very little... more... so my guess was right... I absolutely agree with you that a 450@€ smartphone should not have this kind of limit. It's ridiculous indeed. But as Android seems to evolute quite fast, I also share your hope they will address this issue in one of the forthcoming versions. Ideally the next one, of course ;-) Anyway thanks a lot for your answer. Cheers :-)

Why do most android phones just have about 500mb ROM thus leaving very little space for additional apps? Is this a limitation of android itself? And if so, is this going to change any soon? Who knows the answer???? Pleeease... :-(

From what i have read this is an Android limitation. For now android 2.1 doesn`t allow you to install apps on the SD. I`ve also read that the next version of android will allow you to install the apps on the memory card. Let`s hope this is true, i do belive this will be implemanted in the next android os version because the 100 mb space for apps is just ridiculous; it`s common sense that someone that pays 450euros+ for a smartphone will want to install a lot of apps that surpass the 100mb limit.

I prefer the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Its got a 4in screen and 8mp camera. Android is only 1.6 but i can wait until the next update!
Anonymous, 18 Apr 2010I'm looking forward to HTC's Evo. I expected more from this phone. 120mb for apps is seriously... morei agree with you. however, we have to wait once more for the evo.
Anonymous, 18 Apr 2010How old are you? If Korean logic is really that stupid they wouldn't have a brand like Samsung... moreOk I'm sorry I overreacted and you have a point dude. It's just that having such a good phone with all these features and lacking a flash for the camera is simply not acceptable at all! I mean the fans deserve better if you know what I mean, I'm not saying why didn't they make this phone have an 8 mp camera or bragging about something that is not important. Come on you know better that this feature should be in every basic phone so imagine if its not available on the best handset samsung ever released.
Anyway, I respect you because you admitted that it was a mistake from samsung's behalf. At least you have the guts to be honest unlike many others who keeps giving excuses.
Have a good day,
i have the Desire almost a week now and the internal storage limit is really getting on my nerves... i just can't install more apps and i don't want to uninstall the older ones, because i use them alot :( this is definitely worse than not having a LED flash on the phone... like they give you a ferrari with a tiny gas tank, not clever at all HTC, back to the drawing board you go!
SE 2010, 18 Apr 2010ok it's true 15 fps is a joke but the company promised to update the device to 720p which mean... moreHow old are you? If Korean logic is really that stupid they wouldn't have a brand like Samsung which is known all over the world. The reason why they don't have a flash on the galaxy is maybe because their budgeting doesn't allow it or they planned not to add it in since the main thing they are marketing on the galaxy is the super amoled screen. I'm not saying I like the fact that there's no flash on the device, but please use your brain a little before mouthing off about how 'stupid' Korean logic is. That is just plain ignorant and I fail to see how much better your own logic is in comparison to 'Korean logic'.
Anonymous, 18 Apr 2010I agree that cameras are not really meant for phones but seriously! HTC is no excuse to this. ... moreI receive my HTC Desire this past week. No pinkish spot. Camera brilliant compared to other 5mp cellphone cameras. Also will contest the 15fps as the video quality is very good, even at night. read on so many sites and reviews that the spec was 25fps and was updated with the 1.15.405.4 firmware to 30fps. seeing the quality of the video mine takes, I can believe it. This phone kills my iPhone and any of my top notch phones I have had in the past.
