Is N8 going to have stopwatch? My old Nokia 7210 have the stopwach but my curent phone (N95) is missing it.

Ali Abdulla, 08 Jun 2010Hello, well i read from one of your posts that the Xenon flash, has a "LED" in it... moreIt maybe possible. However the light is a narrow beam and red in colour so it may not be so good. In the past there has also been those simple apps that make the display white to use as a short range torch. Will simulate something later to see how effective in practice it could be.

        Hello,

well i read from one of your posts that the Xenon flash, has a "LED" in its side , i think for helping in Focus and stuff..

is it possible for that Led to be used as a torch, by 3erd party apps? or does it have a different agriculture?

        __
i use my 5800's torch daily , since both of my 2 neighbors, under me, are too lazy to buy new stair lamps XD

Having shot a few thousand images many of which have been in direct midday sunlight I was not aware of any problems framing and controlling the camera due to the brightness of the display. Compared to say the N86 I find it much easier to use in bright conditions.

i think nokia n8 is the beginig of the symbian 3 platform way . like n70 n93 this phone become more complete in camera part in next model ( maybe n8i or like this ) . nokia programmers and designers challange for complete set of camera like n93 ( with optical zoom and stereo high quality sound recording ) or narrow wide touch screen like n8 ! . then result would be device with 12 megapixel 1.83 sensor without optical zoom and with not complete camera software on early release . there is an obvious strategy in nokia : any phone must have a uniqe characteristic ! and all of the good specification should not collect in one device !
anyway n8 is the first symbian 3 and i think this phone could replace the n82 in camera part. if the 3d hw acceleration programmed excellent ( like n82 ) then my next 10th phone is n8 !

Niraj, 05 Jun 2010But I still dont understand why zoom is only 2x in image and 3x while taking video. Generally ... morewe limit the zoom to retain great quality. In the case of video we limit the zoom so there is no upscaling of the resolution (making up pixels) this point correlates to 3x. Above 2x the performance is really incredible.

So, if you take a 12 MP Photo with "Digital zoom" on a 12 MP Lens, it would deteriorate the quality...

I think that in any camera, Image should have no digital zoom while shooting, and video should have 3-4x zoom...

We know, Video is recorded at 1280x720 while the lens is about 4000x3000 pixels...

So, digital zooming in video is helpful for more emerging details, but its not helpful when you shoot a 12 MP Image...

So, good decision by Nokia... We can always zoom after shooting, on PC or mobile, right?

Otherwise, I'll have to settle for N86...

My refund for INNOv8 might be approved at about 22k INdian Rupees, which is quite enough...

By the way, is the MicroSD Slot Hot swap-able?
And what about the battery replacement, will it be done at Nokia Care, or can consumers do it?

Video stabilisation is provided but not image stabilisation. If you are using the xenon flash it freezes the subject so the need for it is removed. Bear in mind btw that stabilsation is not the perfect solution with flash off usage because it only provides protection against camera moevement, it doesn't protect against subject movement. Of course if you are shooting subjects/scene which are static then stabilisation can be of use depending on the light level.
