I'm considering this phone but have one area of uncertainty. Does this phone synchronise with MS Outlook? I particularly need to synch Contacts and Calendar.
Any help would be appreciated as there doesn't seem to be any info on this - which is worrying.
I'm very new to the Android world and with the Samsung Galaxy S, I'm having a blast making little discoveries. Omg no more speed dial, I just found out that you can put a contact on the home screen with direct dial or the full contact! Woa... Samsung App store too had interesting applications like Vlingo Voice, I uninstalled drive safe for this one Road SMS, funny. All in all, my Galaxy S experience is proving to be beyond satisfactory, then again thats just me.
I am returning my Galaxy S 16Gb. It is very good in general but the GPS is terrible, terrible. I need a working GPS, not a useless one. Pity, what a pity... no alternatives since android does not support external bluetooth gps units.
Do something Samsung! Maybe a recall is needed!
In Indonesia Samsung galaxy s price is IDR 6,500,000.00 (US$722)

You will see the existing APN(s) for your carrier. Create a new dummy apn and set this as default.. When you do need to use the carrier data, set it back to the one that was defaulted before and bob's your uncle ;-)
Optus has just announced that they are keeping the Galaxy S exclusive to them until the end of August and possibly September. Guess Samsung just lost another customer by staying with one of the worst carriers and networks in Australia. Time to start looking for an alternative.

HOWEVER: could anyone tell me how to make it not to always use the data connections? This dries up the battery and does a lot of traffic (am not on a flat plan)
The Galaxy S DOES have Flash for the browser, it's somewhere in the settings. I'm getting one soon so I'll tell you where it in the near future.
"Oh, Samsung copied the iPhone 4" What's wrong with that!

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S 3 weeks ago, through the Australian telco Optus. The handset has been a major disappointment. I've written a fairly lengthy blog post on my thoughts at http://sfellowes.spaces.live.com/
what other languages besides english come with the phone for sms' eg greek?
Nice phone, but beware - once it's released Samsung won't release upgrades to later versions of Android. This is what they did with the Galaxy i7500 - I'm left high and dry on Android 1.6, Samsung would rather make me buy a new phone than give me 2.1 or 2.2. I will not be buying Samsing again.
Hi all, just wanted to give out another great find for Galaxy S (most people probably know about it, but I didn't until now!)
(this is sounding like an advert but it's not!)
I found an app "Launcherpro" - and basically for those who don't like Touchwiz - it's another launcher that you can use instead (doesn't suck up extra memory, etc. because you can make it default...)
Just have to say it's AMAZING - because it gives you the option of having 5 lines of icons (not just 4) - which is perfect for what I wanted - and you can also specify homescreen (I was used to the middle one having had an HTC - so I've set it at that) AND you can pinch the screen and it gives you an overview of all 7 screens (like new HTC phones)
There's also a million different icon options, etc. etc. - it's brilliant... give it a whirl, it's free and really frees your Galaxy S to do more (more lovely screen space)
OH!
And you can (finally) hide the top notification screen (something I've wanted to do for a while)
BRILLIANT... whether you like Samsung or not - Android phones are the future and puts IOS4 (OS4? whatever it is) to shame...
What?! No Bluetooth review? Can you put the I9000 in your pocket and walk around with no drop outs? Can you walk around other BT transceivers with no interruptions? What is the best BT headset to use with the I9000?
Get this phone it's great. Just brought it for T-Mobile USA yesterday, and i love it. I don't need a flash for the cam. The pictures are clear and vivid like I've never seen before. The megapix may be 5 without flash, but it still produces like a 8 or above megapixels phone or camera. The screen makes everything look alive and bright (Colorful). Great Phone!
i will buy when the next version comes up with a led flash and 2.2 froyo!!!
I have not read any of the other posts. But this phone is absolutely awesome. As long as you have installed an app killer and lookout anti virus you should not have any problems with it. I keep reminding people that android phones are mini super-computers, and due to the fact that they can do so much limits the battery. The features on this phone such as swype text are amazinng, this beats the iphone 4 hands down. Buy one now!!!!!!!!!!
Do anyone had any idea, if it has 256 MB ram or 512 MB ram, some suggest it has 512 MB ram but due to old kernel it shows 256 mb, no official specification on their website which suggest it has 512 MB ram.
Shaz, 10 Jul 2010So, by 'using the phone as a modem' can you actually connect it to your pc/laptop and run the ... moreThe guy at the Optus store must not be too bright... quiet obviously, the phone does support being used as a WiFi hotspot (to connect your other devices to).
