Hardware design is prone to reception issues.... the phone with the reception problem.... I phone 4 ... buy it and suffer the bully!
Roger Johnson, 16 Jul 2010As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have a clue what they are talking about... more@ Rogers Johnson - well the N8 has 1/3 the performance of a samsung galaxy S - so can you tell me why anyone would purchase a phone with specs from 6 months ago > the best phone on the market running android?
90m triangles max vs n8 32m LOL
Well somebody, pleeeeeease tell me what the fuss all about these phones is... I mean seriously, when iPhone 1 came out, damn, it didn't even have 3g, had a crappy camera, everything was shit, well the screen was good looking, but other than that it was terrible from the features, 2 mp camera? no 3g? Is that a joke? But people bought it like there was some kind of spell cast on them? Is it the magical apple that makes people buy it? Hmm I've heard it was all simple and fun to use, is that it? Is that all a good phone needs? Well Yeah I have to admit, the iPhone 3gs and iPhone 4 are not as bad as their ancestors, but still missing some major things like multitasking? Oh come on, an app gets paused in the background? No Video calls? Oh, yes, they work, between iPhones, through WI-FI - lol. ;D And things like "You will finally be able to make a playlist straight through your phone" - wow, cool, but even the most pittyful phones could do that... I'm glad this time they made a major screw up with their reception issues, maybe they will finally get the popularity off, even though according to how it was bought for no reason ever since the beginning, I would expect the same apple-lovers go on buying them. But people there are plenty of better phones, just look around... The iPhone sucks badly, but it seems to be enough for it's fans and all you'll probably hear now are iPhone fans running and screaming "Wooow, how awesome, I can create my playlist right on my iPhone!"...
"Apple’s latest is always the greatest" If it was the greatest we'd still be at #1. Fix known bugs and add a feature or two for each release, and you have a recipe to line Steve's pockets. iPhone 10 is probably already on paper and many will happily buy 5-9 on the way.
I love my iPhone 4, and i can't wait for the jailbreak to come out so i can use my globe sim... but i need to manually cut the sim card first which i did with a sun cell sim card and it was a success... all i need to do is to have it jailbroken and unlocked... i can't wait!!!!
I am not surprise to see many HATE comments.. its true HTC/Nokia/Samsung providing better mobile with lower price. all i love love about I-phone is Music and lots of applications and games.
As for the US tech blogs, sorry, but they simply don’t have a clue what they are talking about. The US tech media is well known globally for being ignorant about mobile generally – they live in such an insular, inward looking world, and are highly defensive and protective about home-grown technology (Android, iPhone).
The truth is the N8 makes current and rumoured iPhone and Android devices look like over-priced toys. The truth hurts – it hurts Android and iPhone fans, and it hurts US tech blogs who love their home-grown tech. So they slag off and do down non US tech. I’ve seen it lots before. Luckily the US is actually not a very important mobile market at all, only about 8% of world’s mobile users live there. So I think we can live with the US, loud and proud as they are, not appreciating Nokia technology. It’s their loss.
4 generations later and still no haptic screen feedback. Lulz. Pathetic. Even the oldest resistive touchscreens from Nokia and Samsung have it, and it's the most important feature for a phone that has no hardware keyboard or hard buttons. Apparently, Apple fanb0is can't operate an electronic device with more than one hardware button, it is too hard for them. HypePhones are still a solution looking for a problem.
Is it that Apple's programmers are not able to make file transfer via bluetooth possible? Or is it Steve Jobs' own obstinacy that's killing the iphone? Why make a great product and limit basic current cellphone functionality such as bluetooth file transfer unavailable?
Why would one buy this product whereas HTC and Samsung already have far better products? I think that's because of being prejudiced! Don't u think so? And needless to say, it is widely loved in the u.s and not in other countries. Everything is locked on this stupid phone! Apple can make better products but they don't, cause they can market their faulty products, so why would they bother themselves! They know there a great number of people out there who can't wait to buy their faulty products!
cholate milk, 15 Jul 2010HATE IT... but gonna buy it...under apples pr control so
First, Steve Jobs teaches us how we should be holding our beloved iPhones. Next, he tells us its a software glitch. Now he wants us to cover certain part of our phones - and hopefully we'll live with it.
Even organizations like ConsumerReports have already spoken out against the iPhone4 after repeatedly testing the product in their labs.
In my opinion, Apple is slowly approaching Toyota-land with this defective product.
LOS ANGELES/SAN FRANCISCO, July 13 - Shares of Apple Inc (AAPL.O) slid more than 4 percent on Tuesday after a poor review for its iPhone 4 from an influential consumer guide underpinned mounting complaints about the hot-selling device's reception and spurred speculation about a product recall.
Why do you think they arent selling them at the moment! NO, its not because they havent made enough! May it be because all the iphone 4's are flawed? Ithink so! Get ready to send your iphone back.
I disagree with some statements in the review.
1. Still no true multitasking is not a con, it's a plus. I never, ever want full multitasking that will slow down what I'm doing, as on so many other phones.
2. The reception issue is a REAL issue. Don't tell me it can be eliminated by a bumper or other cover - bottom line is that if it does not work perfectly out of the box, it's an issue. And simply because I'm left handed and stay in an area with limited reception, you cannot expect me to cover up my beautiful phone the way Apple is covering up this issue.
3. I hate custom wallpapers, and think it creates a bad user experience, with icons and a background both fighting for attention. The background should be black, like the phone.
The iPhone 4 is a defective product as it is due to the reception issue - and no matter what software fix Apple comes out with it won't fix a HARDWARE problem. Did Steve Jobs know about this problem an still decided to sell the phone is another issue. If you need to purchase a third party product to fix the signal loss problem like a case then the very least thing Apple should do is provide a case completely FREE or in a-worst-case-i-don't-think-it-will-happen-ever-scenario a recall.
Nice design outside - crappy inside.
ionutzm05, 06 Jul 2010Main disadvantages
- Hardware design is prone to reception issues - I agree
- MicroSIM card ... moreYou forget one important cons:
Iphone 4 is not back compatible with older versions of Apple OS like Tiger. Its like buying an expensive gadget windows7 compatible but won't work with xp. Now that sucks....
It's not being a fanboy of apple... They make a device once which lasts forever not like others who just keeps on updating phones as to match the iPhone.it is true that other companies try to compete against apple as apple sets the benchmark and others follow..iPhone 4 is the benchmark and now let's see which all phone comes closer to it till the next year before another gem is revealed by apple.....
