Clamshells are still VERY popular in Japan, and almost every phone by SHARP and Panasonic, NEC etc, is in a clamshell or slider factor.

And they all come with huge 3 - 3.5" (touch)screens and features that blow most Nokia and Samsung handsets out of the water.

what about the WASP T12? it had an extra large 5 (because that's the most used number) and was shark resistant.

a game changing device if ever there was one. that app where you share details by bumping hands was ripped right off the T12.

it came out in Japan a month after it's release. WHERE'S YOURS!!?

'...a certain mobile phone by Apple, which set the standards of touchscreen usability back in 2007..... set a revolution..' Definitely true. I seriously thank Apple for all these touchphones today. They really did make it a standard. They are also responsible for all these multi-touch on our phones, apps on our phones, they changed how gaming is on our phones, and companies trying to make their UI much more awesome to compete with Apple's. I remember before the iPhone even existed, people had to buy an app from a website, download it, transfer the file to your phone, and then install it. Now we have these things called 'app stores'. Apple really did change a lot.

I may sound 'fanboyish' to you.. but this is kinda true... Even you know that. Kudos to apple.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010It was about wide-angle lens, not 12MP cameras. The Nokia N86 has one, the Satio doesn't.Thanks for making it clear. But it was biased anyways. You can't deny it. :P

Beautiful article!!! Loved it... Well done gsm arena, keep up the good work, and thank you for this piece... For people talking about why there k800s, walkman phones, etc etc - this article dealt with form factors evolution NOT features, so you cant expect to see much about such devices, though i agree feature-wise they will be remembered... And oh, i got all nostalgic thinking about my dads ericsson T1, er, i guess that was its name!

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010Samsung, i know you reading this comment. Where is my Galaxy Pro GSM version? Do you know ... moreI agree with you 100%!!! I like the Galaxy S too, but if lacks a LED flash... I don't need it. We are in 2010, we like to take pictures even if we don't have enough light.
