Because Carmack did good in the past doesn't mean he's going to do well forever (Frankly, any programmer I know agrees that since quake's 3 engine carmack didn't make any révolutionary engine, he's only a genius because he puts out the base concepts of his engine alone, which is at the time of his announcements often a leap forward.)
I'll only believe it when I see it running final version, to me a powervr 335 that can render only about 30M raw polys/s can not possibly catch up to a playstation 2 or a xbox. I mean in the developping world, this is like going against a basic rule of physics which would be gravity...

[deleted post]What they say is that GPS works after a reset, so you can use GPS and Samsung will release a fix.
I have a Nokia X6 with the same problem, but I do not mind so much if at the end of the day(reset) I can use it. My Galaxy S has no problem whatsoever with the GPS and I use it weekly when jogging. The endgadget (Apple's branch in publishing:) ) also mention Vibrant and Captivate. Although they are from the same family with SGS, they are not the same.
[deleted post]When it comes down to who you should believe, John Carmack an legendary game programming genius or some random guy posting on the Internet about some crap games they can write in JavaME or Flash, I think I'll take the word of the person who pretty much invented the first person shooter over random guy any day.
Cocoa touch pwns Java, cocoa touch pwns Flash, you can keep your 2d scrollers.

If not, you're not in a serious enterprise. And then again you don't even know what you are talking about, since software encryption with a cortex A8 would be as fast and seamless as hardware encryption. It will just suck up some cpu time when opening and saving files...

I thought the review was quite unfair as they did not specify the biggest flaw (the GPS signal doesn't work), what a biased review hope you manage to do one for the Motorola Droid 2 antenna issue vs the Galaxy GPS issue.

Will all you apple fan-boys stop nagging.... I thought the review was quite fair as they did not specify the biggest flaw (the phone signal lost when you hold it in a certain way) Good review hope you manage to do one for the EVO 4g vs Iphone 4
now i'm really stuck n confused between sgs and ifon4...which 1 shall i go for..the only thing that inclines me towards iphone 4 is its future updates i.e when ios5 arrives it will ready for it, as far as sgs we learn 4rm samsung history can't expect any further update beyond froyo 2.2
if gingerbread 3.0 update is promised for sgs i can ditch ifon4 for sgs
plz can some one help me out with ur best advice

Namely ALL apps ... moreI'm also living in Europe(Netherlands) and I can access the paid apps on Android Market. You need a gmail account and a credit card. The problem with the iPhone is that I cannot buy an app outside App Store(except you jailbreak your iPhone and loose the guarantee, too bigger risk for me). For example I bought an improved version of the Track and Protect app, from the developer site, since on the android market only a free washed down version was available.
i completely disagree that samsung galaxy s has better still quality. iphone4 is way better. this is the only thing i disagreed on your review.
you'r taking samsung side after introducing your own device just because of samsung cop whith you, It's a shame for you GSMArena group, your information is no longer handfull... _!_
svante, 16 Aug 2010For me, there are a LOT of apps that are not available on the android market. Namely ALL apps ... moreAn app called Runkeeper does the exact same thing on both iphone and android... If you don't even search for similar apps before whining, yea maybe you should remain on iphone.
Last point for today, a lot of android apps are not on the android market (yet) but straight on the app developper's homepage.
I remember the appstore in it's first year on iphone, frankly it was just worse than android at the same age.
Mark, 16 Aug 2010Apple haters will always exist. Fact is, Apple products are always the most user friendly, and... moreYea, I agree iphone has good business apps, but the very same apps are coming out shortly with the same user experience as you call it, be it oracle's or sybase products.
It's just sad iphone fanboys have to come to :
- Resell price, price of phone
- Business apps
- Worst of all : mentionning hardware encryption on a phone with no removable media support, bluetooth/wifi file transfer, nor micro usb port rofl
Keep calling your iphone 4 precious, afterall, it must be all you've got in your life to be this vindicative about it.

Hardware encryption (lol yea everybody uses that, also, every businessman stores his sensible data in his iphone (which can't even store large files anyway), in that case even a simple software encryption is enough for 99.99% of the world, that just yet again a "helicopter windshield grade glass" point coming from apple.
I make games, I know how 3D engines are working, ask any developper carmack is just bulshitting about 60 steady fps on a powervr535, even with a godlike optimisation it won't run 60 fps once all the sfx, scripting, debugging are added but thanks, you certainly know more than me to judge the RAGE engine and say it's the awesomest and will kill the PS2.
